Job summary

HTX is seeking a motivated Senior/Forensic Scientist (Fire Research) to lead cutting-edge research in battery and electrical fire safety within the HTX Forensics CoE. The role focuses on developing novel methodologies, deploying field-ready forensic capabilities and working with national and international partners.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in material science or engineering, experience with battery testing and fire science, and is comfortable guiding junior scientists while

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualification in material science, engineering or related discipline.
• Experience in fire science or energy storage systems with batteries is preferred.
• Hands-on use of battery testing equipment and safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead research initiatives from concept to delivery in fire science related to batteries and fires.
• Develop and validate methodologies, perform field trials and engage stakeholders.
• Collaborate across teams to translate operational needs into deployable capabilities.
• Ensure quality, safety, data integrity, cybersecurity and ethical research practices.
