Job summary

Rohde & Schwarz seeks a Senior Firmware Developer to join our R&D team in Singapore. You will design, develop, and optimize embedded firmware for next-generation Monitoring Receiver products, collaborating with hardware, DSP, and firmware teams to deliver high-performance, reliable solutions.

Required 5+ years in embedded firmware, RTOS and/or bare-metal experience, and familiarity with Embedded Linux and RF concepts. Strong DSP knowledge and experience with high-speed interfaces are essential.

Qualifications

Bachelor's/Master's/PhD in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Communications Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline.
At least 5 years of embedded firmware development experience; RF/wireless/test&measurement background advantageous.
Experience with RTOS and/or bare-metal environments.
Experience with Embedded Linux and/or Linux device drivers.
Good understanding of RF concepts and DSP fundamentals.
Knowledge of DSP techniques such as FFT, windowing, spectral analysis.
Familiarity with FPGA-based systems and hardware-software integration.
Knowledge of high-speed interfaces such as SPI, PCIe, Ethernet, JESD204.
Experience with Python or MATLAB for automation, testing, or data analysis.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; good communication in a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain embedded firmware.
Optimize firmware performance for low latency, high throughput, and memory efficiency.
Develop drivers, BSPs, and low-level hardware interfaces.
Collaborate with hardware engineers to interface with ADCs, FPGAs, RF front-ends, and high-speed data paths.

Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Firmware Developer to join our R&D team. In this role, you will design, develop, and optimize firmware for next-generation Monitoring Receiver product. You will work closely with Hardware, DSP, and other Firmware developers to deliver high-performance, reliable, and scalable solutions to meet our customers' needs.

Your tasks

Design, develop, and maintain embedded firmware
Optimize firmware performance for low latency, high throughput, and efficient memory usage
Develop drivers, BSPs, and low-level hardware interfaces
Collaborate with hardware engineers to interface with ADCs, FPGAs, RF frontend components, and high-speed data paths
Participate in system architecture design and technical discussions
Debug complex system issues across hardware and software layers
Conduct code reviews and ensure compliance with coding standards
Contribute to product verification, validation, and production support

Your Qualifications

Bachelor's, Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Communications Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
At least 5 years of relevant experience in embedded firmware development. -Experience in the RF, wireless communications, or test and measurement industry will be an advantage.
Experience developing embedded software using Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) and/or bare-metal environments.
Experience with Embedded Linux and/or Linux device driver development will be an advantage.
Good understanding of RF concepts and digital signal processing fundamentals.
Knowledge of DSP techniques such as Fast Fourier Transform (FFT), windowing, and spectral analysis.
Familiarity with FPGA-based systems and hardware-software integration.
Knowledge of high-speed communication interfaces such as SPI, PCIe, Ethernet, and JESD204.
Experience using scripting languages or tools, such as Python or MATLAB, for automation, testing, or data analysis.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
Good communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
