Molex is a leading supplier of interconnect solutions, seeking a Sr Engineer, Field Application to provide technical expertise and support for customers using SMT, PTH, and Press-Fit technologies. You will coordinate with multiple teams and drive product success across global sites.

You will lead guidelines development, train teams, participate in design reviews, and validate products from design to release while maintaining ISO/IATF and IPC awareness.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
  • 10+ years in electronics industry with soldering and Press-Fit emphasis.
  • Experience with SMT, PTH, and Press-Fit manufacturing processes.
  • Strong problem-solving and customer-facing communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with Manufacturing Operations, Quality and Reliability teams on issues and improvements.
  • Liaise with customers, contract manufacturers, suppliers and test labs to resolve application issues.
  • Lead development of new SMT/PTH/Press-Fit guidelines and train teams.
  • Act as SME for SMT/PTH/Press-Fit applications across global teams.
  • Participate in design reviews (DFM, DVPR, FMEA) and product validation planning.
  • Design soldering test plans, fixtures and parameter settings for validation.
  • Conduct manufacturing process reviews and validations at customer or contract sites.
  • Collaborate to improve new product development processes and training programs.

Molex is seeking a highly motivated Sr Engineer, Field Application to provide technical expertise and support for customers utilizing our interconnect solutions. In this role, you will serve as a key technical resource, helping customers resolve application challenges related to SMT (Surface Mount Technology), PTH (Plated Through-Hole), and Press-Fit technologies while collaborating cross-functionally to drive product success and innovation.

Our Team

You will be part of the DSS organization and work closely with Product Engineering, Product Management, Project Management, Manufacturing Operations, Quality, Advanced Quality Planning, Reliability Test Laboratory, Sales & Marketing, and global teams. You will also engage directly with customers, contract manufacturers, suppliers, and test laboratories to deliver effective application solutions and enhance customer success.

What You Will Do
  • Internally coordinate with teams such as Manufacturing Operations, Quality, Advanced-Quality Planning, andReliability Test Laboratory.
  • Externally liaise with customers, contract manufacturers, suppliers, and test laboratories to resolve application issues.
  • Lead initiatives to develop new SMT/PTH/Press-Fit guidelines and train teams to resolve SMT issues.
  • Act as a Subject‑Matter‑Expert (SME) on SMT/PTH/Press‑Fit applications, providing technical guidance and training to Product Engineering, Manufacturing Operations, Quality teams, and Customer Support, both locally and globally.
  • Participate in front‑end connector design reviews, risk assessments, and new product design reviews including DFM (Design for Manufacturability), DVPR (Design Validation and Product Release), and FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis).
  • Design soldering testing and validation plans, including developing test fixtures and initiating parameter settings for product validation.
  • Conduct manufacturing process reviews and validations at Customers or Contract Manufacturer sites.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders like Product Engineering, Technical Project & Planning, Advanced Quality Planning, and Reliability Test Laboratory to improve new product development processes.
  • Undertake projects assigned by Management, including new initiatives, customer application issues, yield improvement programs, and training across Molex divisions.
  • Maintain familiarity with International Standards Organization (ISO), Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) Management Systems, IATF standards, and Industrial Soldering Requirements (IPC).
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the electronics industry.
  • Strong knowledge of soldering and Press‑Fit technologies.
  • Experience with SMT, PTH, and Press‑Fit manufacturing processes.
  • Proven problem‑solving, critical thinking, and customer‑facing communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross‑functional and global environment.

  • Degree specialization in Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Extensive experience in SMT process technologies and connector applications.
  • Knowledge of Measurement System Analysis (MSA) and IPC soldering standards.
