Job summary

NEA National Environment Agency in Singapore seeks a Regulatory Officer in the Radiation Protection and Nuclear Science Group. You will help implement the Radiation Protection Act across Singapore and ensure licence applicants comply with safety requirements.

You will process licence applications, evaluate health and environmental impacts, provide licensing guidance, and conduct inspections of premises handling irradiating devices or radioactive materials.

What the role is

The Radiation Protection and Nuclear Science Group in NEA is Singapore's national authority for radiation protection, safeguarding the public, radiation workers and the environment from the harmful effects of radiation. Our Regulation Division administers and enforces the Radiation Protection Act and Regulations through licensing and inspections.

What you will be working on

• Implementing the Radiation Protection Act and its Regulations, ensuring that all users of radiation comply with safety requirements across Singapore.
• Processing applications for radiation licences and, where necessary, seek clarification from applicants on their licence applications.
• Evaluating health and environmental impacts of radiation exposure.
• Providing guidance to applicants in their licence applications and enquiries on licensing-related matters.
• Conducting inspections, where necessary, of medical and industrial premises that handle irradiating apparatus/radioactive materials and prepare inspection reports and assessments based on the information gathered from inspections.
• Performing other duties as may be required of you under purview of the Regulation Division.
