Senior Engineer, Structural Detail Design

Job summary

PaxOcean in Singapore is seeking an experienced structural design engineer to independently develop compliant marine/offshore structural designs within project schedules.

Responsibilities include leading design delivery, reviewing external specifications, liaising with owners and classification society, and performing advanced FE analysis using FEMAP or similar tools where possible. Strong collaboration with detail and production designers is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level engineering degree required from a recognized institution.
• Minimum 8 years in marine/offshore structural design within newbuild contexts.
• Experience reviewing external designer's technical specs and deliverables.

Responsibilities

• Deliver project design drawings and documents per project plan; assume project lead role.
• Review external designer's pre-contract specs, GA, and drawings to ensure detail design readiness.
• Liaise with Owner and Classification Society to ensure compliance and obtain approvals.
• Perform FE analysis using FEMAP or similar FE software; beneficial if available.
• Review drawings/documents produced by project team before submission.
• Perform rule-based structural calculations and review 3rd party FE analyses.
• Coordinate with detail designer/production designer and review their outputs.
• Communicate with production lead for troubleshooting and on-site visits when needed.

Job Summary

• Responsible for delivering the respective project design drawing and document according to project plan schedule. Shall take on project lead role.
• Review external designer’s pre-contract technical specifications, general arrangement and drawing lists. Ensure all information required for detail design development is available.
• Liaise with Owner and Classification Society for the specific design requirement compliance, review, and approval.
• Perform FE analysis using FEMAP or similar FE software is an advantage.
• Review project team members drawings or documents prior submission.
• Able to perform rule based structural calculations and review 3rd party FE analyses.
• Coordinates with detail designer / production designer and checks their processes and output.
• Communicate with the person in charge of production on troubleshooting and visiting on-site if needed.

Key Requirements

• Minimum 8 years of relevant work experience in the marine/offshore industry Structure newbuilding engineering design.
• Familiar with AutoCAD/ Microsoft Office/ AVEVA/ Cadmatic or simillar/ FE software (advantage)
