Senior Engineer, Structural Detail Design

Job summary

PaxOcean in Singapore is seeking an experienced structural engineer to independently develop structural designs for marine/offshore newbuildings, ensuring compliance with class rules and technical specs, and taking project lead responsibilities.

The role requires at least 8 years of experience in marine structural design, proficiency with AutoCAD, AVEVA or Cadmatic, and FE analysis tools; you will coordinate with designers, owners and classification societies and support on-site troubleshooting.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in marine/offshore structure newbuilding engineering design.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Architecture.
• Proficient with AutoCAD/Microsoft Office/AVEVA/Cadmatic or similar/FE software.

Responsibilities

• Deliver project design drawings and documents according to project plan; assume project lead role.
• Review external designer’s pre-contract technical specifications, general arrangement and drawing lists; ensure information for detail design development is available.
• Liaise with Owner and Classification Society for design requirement compliance, review, and approval.
• Perform FE analysis using FEMAP or similar FE software (advantage).
• Review project team drawings/documents prior submission.
• Conduct rule-based structural calculations and review 3rd party FE analyses.
• Coordinate with detail/production designers and check outputs.
• Communicate with production lead for troubleshooting and on-site visits when needed.

• Responsible for delivering the respective project design drawing and document according to project plan schedule. Shall take on project lead role.
• Review external designer’s pre-contract technical specifications, general arrangement and drawing lists. Ensure all information required for detail design development is available.
• Liaise with Owner and Classification Society for the specific design requirement compliance, review, and approval.
• Perform FE analysis using FEMAP or similar FE software is an advantage.
• Review project team members drawings or documents prior submission.
• Able to perform rule based structural calculations and review 3rd party FE analyses.
• Coordinates with detail designer / production designer and checks their processes and output.
• Communicate with the person in charge of production on trouble shooting and visiting on-site if needed.
