Job Summary

As a Global Facilities Technology Team (GFTT) Chemical and Slurry Systems Engineer at Micron Technology, Inc., you will provide high‑quality engineering services and specifications for the planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of chemical and slurry facilities across the Micron Global Manufacturing Network. You will participate in capacity and scenario planning and evaluate the impact of technology changes on facilities systems, supporting manufacturing sites as a domain expert through all phases of operation and ensuring compliance with environmental, safety, regulatory, and code requirements.

Responsibilities

• Design and Plan Systems and Buildings
  • Provide system designs for safe operation and maintenance of chemical and slurry systems.
  • Develop, review, and maintain equipment and component specifications and standards.
  • Ensure materials of construction are compatible with chemicals used, including source containers, tanks, pumps, and distribution.
  • Ensure designs align with all applicable standards, codes, and regulations.
  • Review the capacity‑planning databases across the network, validating utilization and diversity‑factor assumptions.
  • Review and advise sites on periodic system‑status presentations (system capacity, actual load, projected loads, key accomplishments, and challenges/issues).
  • Assist sites with evaluating system and distribution‑capacity impacts based on scenario changes.
  • Review and advise on scope for facilities infrastructure additions or modifications.
• Provide Project Support
  • Provide Micron specifications and standards to design firms and review detailed designs for new facilities infrastructure.
  • Support cost and schedule estimates and justification for approval.
  • Supervise and coordinate consultant resources required.
  • Ensure appropriate communication with local facilities, design, construction, procurement, and manufacturing partners to deliver project objectives.
  • Review design packages, provide detailed comments and feedback, and address problems or corrections.
  • Ensure project scope meets needs of the requestor(s) and that change‑management procedures are followed.
  • Supervise progress and provide engineering and design support during construction as needed.
• Provide Technical Support, Leadership, and Expertise
  • Consult and support Operations & Maintenance and Manufacturing as a technical field domain expert.
  • Analyze system designs to identify improvements for better performance, efficiency gains, reduced maintenance, and cost savings.
  • Support sites with problem analysis using standard tools and methodologies.
  • Provide technical leadership and support to procurement on vendor qualifications, selection, and negotiation.
  • Conduct risk and FMEA analyses to eliminate single points of failure and mitigate risk within the design process.
  • Benchmark engineering and design Best‑KMs within and external to Micron sites.
  • Own and maintain corporate facility documents (standard process guidelines, etc.).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Chemical Engineering or Bioengineering.
• At least 8 years of experience in the semiconductor industry with chemical and slurry experience.
• Experience designing and building chemical and slurry facilities for semiconductor production.
• Self‑motivated with the ability to travel up to 25% of the time.

Additional Job Details

• Plan facilities changes for plant, office, and production equipment layouts, focusing on economy of operation, maximum use of facilities and equipment, and compliance with laws and regulations.
• Coordinate with architecture/engineering firms in developing design criteria and preparing layout and detail drawings.
• Prepare bid sheets and contracts for construction and facilities acquisition.
• Review and estimate design costs, including equipment, installation, labor, materials, preparation, and related costs.
• Inspect construction and installation progress for conformance to established drawings, specifications, and schedules.
• Develop criteria and performance specifications required to meet unique operating requirements and building and safety codes.
