Job Summary

As a Global Facilities Technology Team (GFTT) Chemical and Slurry Systems Engineer at Micron Technology, Inc., you will provide high quality engineering services and specifications for the planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of facilities systems in support of semiconductor manufacturing across the Micron Global Manufacturing Network. You will participate in capacity and scenario planning, evaluate impacts to facilities systems driven by technology changes, and serve as a domain expert through all phases of design, construction, installation, startup, operations, and maintenance while ensuring environmental, safety, regulatory, and code compliance.

Responsibilities and Tasks

Design and Plan Systems and Buildings

• Provide system designs for safe operations and maintenance of chemical and slurry systems.
• Develop, review, and maintain equipment and component specifications and standards for the corporation.
• Ensure materials of construction are compatible with chemicals used.
• Ensure designs align with all applicable standards, codes, and regulations.
• Review the capacity planning databases and validate utilization and diversity factor assumptions.
• Review and advise sites on periodic system status presentations (capacity, load, and projected loads).
• Assist sites with the evaluation of system and distribution capacity impacts based on scenario changes.
• Review and advise on scope for facilities infrastructure additions or modifications.

Provide Project Support

• Provide Micron specifications and standards to design firms and review detailed designs and specifications for new facilities infrastructure.
• Support cost and schedule estimates and justification for approval.
• Supervise and coordinate consultant resources required.
• Ensure communication with local facilities, design, construction, procurement, and manufacturing partners.
• Provide timely review of design packages with detailed comments and feedback.
• Work with personnel to address problems or make corrections.
• Ensure project scope meets needs of the requestor(s).
• Ensure change management procedures are followed.
• Supervise progress and provide engineering support during construction when necessary.

Provide Technical Support, Leadership, and Expertise

• Provide consultation and support to operations, maintenance, and manufacturing as a technical field domain expert.
• Analyze system designs to identify improvements for performance, efficiency, maintenance, and cost savings.
• Support sites with problem analysis using standard tools and methodologies.
• Provide technical leadership and support to procurement on vendor qualifications, selection, and negotiations.
• Conduct FMEA analyses.
• Eliminate single points of failure and mitigate risk within the design process.
• Benchmark engineering and design best practices within and external to Micron sites.
• Own and maintain corporate facility documents (standard process guidelines).

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in chemical engineering or bioengineering.
• At least 8 years of experience in the semiconductor industry with chemical and slurry experience.
• Experience in designing and building chemical and slurry facilities in the semiconductor industry.
• Self‑motivated with ability to travel 25% of the time.

Additional Job Details

The Engineer will plan facilities changes for plant, office, and production equipment layouts, work toward economy of operation, maximize use of facilities and equipment, and ensure compliance with laws and regulations. The Engineer will coordinate with architecture and engineering firms to develop design criteria, prepare layout and detail drawings, prepare bid sheets and contracts, estimate design costs, inspect construction progress for conformance to drawings and specifications, and develop performance specifications to meet unique operating requirements and building and safety codes.
