Job summary

MattenPlant Pte Ltd in Singapore is seeking an experienced Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer (PLC & Automation) to support design, development, implementation and commissioning of electrical, instrumentation and automation systems for water and wastewater projects.

You will work across the full project lifecycle, including PCB design, PLC/HMI programming, instrumentation configuration and site commissioning, collaborating with customers, suppliers and the technical sales team to deliver

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Electrical/Instrumentation/Control engineering.
• Hands-on PLC programming and troubleshooting experience.
• Experience with HMI development and configuration.
• Proficiency in electrical panel design and drawings.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD or EPLAN for schematics.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer (PLC & Automation) to support the design, development, implementation and commissioning of electrical, instrumentation and automation systems for water and wastewater treatment projects. The role covers the full project lifecycle, including electrical and control panel design, PLC and HMI programming, instrumentation configuration, procurement coordination, site installation, testing and commissioning. The successful candidate will also work closely with customers, suppliers, subcontractors and the technical sales team to ensure that projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with project requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Provide engineering support for electrical, instrumentation, control and automation requirements for water and wastewater treatment systems and projects

• Design and prepare electrical and control panel drawings using AutoCAD, EPLAN or other relevant engineering software

• Prepare Bills of Materials (BOMs) and select appropriate electrical, instrumentation, automation and control components

• Develop and modify PLC programs and HMI applications for process and functional control systems

• Perform PLC programming using platforms such as Siemens, Allen-Bradley or other relevant PLC systems

• Configure and integrate instrumentation and control devices into the overall automation system

• Support the technical sales team during the project prospecting and proposal stages, particularly in determining electrical, instrumentation and automation scope of supply and costing

• Coordinate and communicate with suppliers, subcontractors and panel builders in Singapore and the region

• Supervise, conduct and support electrical and instrumentation installation works at project sites

• Prepare, compile and maintain electrical, instrumentation and PLC-related project documentation

• Prepare and hand over relevant Operation & Maintenance (O&M) manuals, including electrical, instrumentation, PLC and automation documentation, to agents, distributors and end-user customers.

• Ensure project documentation is complete and properly maintained for final project handover.

About you

• Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Instrumentation & Control Engineering, Automation Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline

• 5–8 years of relevant working experience in industrial automation, electrical engineering, equipment production or engineering projects

• Hands-on experience in PLC programming and troubleshooting, preferably with Siemens and/or Allen-Bradley PLC platforms

• Experience in HMI development, modification and troubleshooting

• Good knowledge of electrical and control panel design

• Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or EPLAN

• Experience in instrumentation configuration, loop testing and commissioning

• Good interpersonal, communication and coordination skills

• Good command of written and spoken English

• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
