Job summary

Rockwell Automation is seeking an experienced embedded firmware test engineer. You will lead test activities, develop test plans and reports, and mentor junior engineers.

The role requires translating requirements into robust test cases, developing testware, and building firmware functional tests following Rockwell guidelines. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in test engineering, strong Python scripting, and deep expertise in real-time embedded systems, Agile processes, and CI/CD.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Computer/Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related fields.
• Knowledge of Agile, continuous integration and test design.
• Experience with test automation methodologies and scripting (Python).
• Strong real-time embedded system/hardware knowledge and troubleshooting skills.
• 5+ years as a test engineer with lead responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Act as test lead and create test strategy, plan and report.
• Mentor junior engineers and share technical skills.
• Translate requirements into test cases and verification.
• Participate in reviews for feature requirements.
• Develop testware and firmware functional tests per Rockwell guidelines.
• Debug failures and report anomalies; monitor progress.

Job Description

Job Summary

You will use product domain knowledge and sound engineering practices, to perform embedded firmware test activities for Rockwell Automation products.

Your Responsibilities

• Act as test lead and create test documentation such as test strategy, test plan, test report.
• Be a mentor and provide technical skills to more junior engineers.
• Understand and translate requirements, design/functional specifications to define test requirements and design test cases.
• Participate in reviews for feature requirements.
• Perform analysis and improvement on the existing test cases.
• Develop test ware, test script, and build firmware functional tests based on Rockwell guidelines.
• Debug failures, report anomalies. Report progress to managers and self mandatory?
• Perform regression testing whenever necessary.
• Contribute to test KPI activities by leading the continuous improvement activities.

The Essentials - You Will Have

• Degree in Computer Science, Computer/Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related fields.
• Knowledge and expertise in Test Engineering processes (Agile, continuous integration) and methods for test case design and test coverage optimization.
• Strong knowledge and expertise in test automation methodologies.
• Programming experience in scripting languages is required - Python.
• Strong knowledge and expertise in real-time embedded system/hardware.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills are required.
• Lead technical teams and has 5+ years' experience in test engineering especially as a test lead.
• Experience with bug/anomaly tracking and evaluation systems.

The Preferred - You Might Also Have

• Experience with test lab development.
• Experience in Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery process.
• Experience/knowledge in network protocols and analyzers.
• Familiarity with industrial communication network/protocols, e.g.: EtherNet/IP, HART.
• Experience/knowledge of industrial automation and PLC applications.
• Familiarity with Rockwell products, with IO's, controller's families, and Studio5000 Application Software.
• Lead, communicate and engage solutions with cross functional teams to find solutions and make decisions.
• Ability to work in teams or independently, action-oriented.
• Passionate with testing, creative, and curious to explore technical innovation.
• Be able to adapt quickly and react positively to business needs and changes in strategies.
