Job summary

UBI is seeking a Senior Electronics Technician to perform hands-on soldering, wire/cable assembly, and functional testing of electronic components in a lab environment. You will support RF systems, prototypes, and test setups with strong attention to detail.

The role requires a Diploma or Certificate in Electrical/Electronics Engineering and 3+ years of hands-on experience in a lab or manufacturing setting, with familiarity in IPC‑A‑610 or J‑STD‑001 standards.

Qualifications

• Diploma or certificate in Electrical/Electronics Engineering required.
• 3+ years hands-on soldering, assembly, and testing in lab/manufacturing.
• Knowledge of RF systems or high-frequency concepts is a plus.
• Ability to read drawings and communicate/document effectively.

Responsibilities

• Perform precise soldering on PCBs (SMD and through-hole).
• Assemble wire harnesses and cable assemblies per drawings and standards.
• Conduct electrical and functional testing with test equipment (multimeter, oscilloscope, power supply).
• Assist RF test setups, including cabling, shielding and grounding practices.
• Read engineering drawings, schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Document test results and report issues; maintain lab tools and ESD safety.

Senior Electronics Technician (RF Testing, PCB Assembly & Troubleshooting) | Up to $3.5k | Contract | UBI

Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Senior Electronics Technician to perform hands‑on soldering, wire/cable assembly, and functional testing of electronic components and assemblies. The ideal candidate will have practical experience, high attention to detail, and the ability to support RF systems, prototypes, and test setups in a lab environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Perform precise soldering (surface-mount and through‑hole) on PCBs and components.
2. Assemble wire harnesses, crimp connectors, and cable assemblies per drawings and standards.
3. Conduct electrical and functional testing of components and boards using test equipment (multimeter, oscilloscope, power supply, etc.).
4. Assist engineers in RF test setups, including RF cabling and proper shielding/grounding practices.
5. Experience supporting RF or high-frequency circuits, including coaxial cable assembly, impedance matching awareness, or basic RF measurement techniques (e.g. using spectrum analyzer or VNA).
6. Train and guide the operator on the daily production process.
7. Establish production work station, tool, and equipment arrangement.
8. Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
9. Support engineers in prototype builds, modifications, and rework activities.
10. Document test results, assembly issues, and suggest improvements when appropriate.
11. Maintain lab tools and ensure ESD safety procedures are followed.
12. Perform basic troubleshooting of faulty boards or assemblies.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Certificate in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or equivalent.
• 3+ years of hands‑on experience in soldering, assembly, and testing in a lab or manufacturing environment.
• Good understanding of electronic components and circuits.
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Good communication and documentation skills.

• Experience working in R&D or prototype environments.
• Ability to assist in developing test setups or jigs.
• Familiar with basic inventory or production tracking systems.
• Familiar with IPC‑A‑610 or J‑STD‑001 workmanship standards (certification is a plus).
