Job summary

Akila Global Pte Ltd in Singapore seeks an experienced Senior Electrical Field Technician to support engineering, maintenance, installation and project works. You will troubleshoot, install, test and document on customer sites.

The role requires reading drawings, preparing AutoCAD layouts, and coordinating with engineers, supervisors and subcontractors. You will work independently at times and ensure safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Diploma/NITEC in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years hands-on electrical experience in industrial/maintenance roles.
• Ability to read electrical drawings and prepare basic AutoCAD layouts.
• Read and interpret schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Good knowledge of electrical testing instruments.

Job description

Akila Global Pte Ltd is seeking an experienced and hands-on Senior Electrical Field Technician to support our ongoing engineering, maintenance, installation and project works in Singapore.

The successful candidate will be responsible for electrical troubleshooting, installation, testing, inspection, documentation and site coordination. The role requires a strong practical electrical background together with the ability to read engineering drawings and prepare or modify basic AutoCAD drawings.

Candidates should be comfortable working independently at customer/project sites and coordinating with engineers, supervisors, subcontractors and other technical personnel.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform troubleshooting, inspection, testing, repair and maintenance of electrical panels, control systems, equipment and electrical assemblies.
• Carry out electrical installation, modification, replacement and rectification works at project and customer sites.
• Diagnose electrical faults and implement appropriate corrective actions using approved procedures, tools and test equipment.
• Perform cable installation, cable termination, connection and disconnection of electrical cables, control cables, harnesses and related interfaces.
• Assist with installation and testing of electrical panels, DBs, control panels, equipment and associated electrical systems.
• Read and interpret electrical single-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, layout drawings and equipment drawings.
• Prepare, update and mark up basic AutoCAD drawings, electrical layouts and as-built drawings.
• Carry out testing and commissioning activities together with engineers, LEWs, vendors and other project personnel where required.
• Record site findings, measurements, defects, corrective actions and completed works accurately.
• Prepare same-day service reports, inspection reports, checklists and photographic documentation where required.
• Assist with site surveys, measurements and preparation of technical information before project execution.
• Follow approved method statements, risk assessments, work instructions and Permit-to-Work requirements.
• Strictly comply with LOTO (Lock-Out Tag-Out), WSH requirements and customer/site safety regulations.
• Use electrical testing instruments, hand tools and power tools safely and correctly.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, supervisors, subcontractors and clients for smooth execution of works.
• Identify non-conformances or defects and report them promptly for corrective action.
• Support general electrical and engineering project activities as assigned by the company.

Requirements

Minimum Diploma / NITEC / Higher NITEC in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology or equivalent.

Minimum 5 years of relevant hands-on electrical experience in industrial, engineering, construction, maintenance, manufacturing or field-service environments.

Strong practical knowledge of electrical troubleshooting, control panels, electrical assemblies and cable termination.

Able to read and understand electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams and engineering drawings.

Working knowledge of AutoCAD is required.

Able to prepare or modify basic electrical layouts, equipment layouts and as-built drawings using AutoCAD.

Familiar with electrical testing instruments such as multimeters, insulation resistance testers and related test equipment.

Good knowledge of common hand and power tools, including drills, grinders and torque tools.

Familiarity with LOTO procedures and Singapore WSH/site safety requirements.

Able to understand and follow method statements, risk assessments, technical instructions and quality checklists.

Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Able to prepare clear service reports and technical documentation.

Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, email and electronic reporting.

Able to work independently as well as part of a project team.

Willing to work at different project/customer sites across Singapore.

Willing to work overtime, weekends or after normal working hours when required by project schedules.
