Job summary

recruit express pte ltd is seeking a Senior Direct Materials Buyer for a permanent role in the East Area, Singapore. The role covers MRP execution, supplier management, inventory control, and compliance with ISO/SOX standards in a regulated medical device manufacturing environment.

You will monitor material requirements, manage scheduling and supplier performance, and drive continuous improvement across purchasing processes and SAP workflows.

Responsibilities

• Review production material requirements and execute purchase orders to meet MRP.
• Manage material scheduling, rescheduling and expediting to align with production plans.
• Monitor and optimise inventory levels, including excess, obsolescence and Last Time Buy.
• Manage supplier relationships and resolve shortages, delivery risks and supply constraints.
• Monitor supplier performance and drive improvement plans.
• Handle SAP workflows for POs/PRs, invoices and related transactions.
• Review supplier NCRs and drive corrective actions to reduce quality issues.
• Participate in supplier audits and prepare audit reports.
• Coordinate purchasing specification changes and support documentation changes.
• Represent Purchasing in new product introduction/development and transfers.

Senior Direct Materials Buyer | Lifescience Device Manufacturing

Permanent | East Area

An established manufacturing organisation is seeking an experienced Senior Direct Materials Buyer to support material availability, supplier performance and inventory optimisation. This is a hands‑on senior purchasing role covering MRP execution, supplier management, inventory control, quality issues, SAP data integrity and continuous improvement within a regulated manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Review production material requirements and execute purchase orders based on MRP requirements to maintain uninterrupted material supply.
• Manage material scheduling, rescheduling and expediting activities in response to production build plans and changing demand.
• Monitor inventory levels and optimise stock holdings while managing excess and obsolete inventory, Last Time Buy requirements and inventory targets.
• Manage supplier relationships and proactively identify and resolve material shortages, delivery risks and supply constraints.
• Monitor supplier performance and implement improvement plans for underperforming suppliers.
• Manage purchasing‑related SAP workflows, including past‑due POs/PRs, unconfirmed POs, invoice discrepancies and other outstanding transactions.
• Review supplier‑related non‑conformances/NCRs and drive corrective actions aimed at reducing recurring quality issues.
• Participate in supplier audits and prepare relevant audit reports and follow‑up actions.
• Coordinate purchasing specification changes and initiate or support document change processes.
• Represent Purchasing in new product introduction, new product development and product transfer activities.
• Ensure procurement systems and processes remain compliant with applicable SOX, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 13485 and regulatory requirements.
• Support the Supply Assurance Manager in departmental initiatives, process improvements, KPI management and data integrity.

Who Should Apply

• Experienced Buyers / Senior Buyers / Purchasing Specialists from medical device manufacturing environments, particularly those handling production materials, MRP and supplier performance.
• Candidates comfortable operating beyond transactional PO placement and taking ownership of inventory, shortages, supplier quality, process improvement and cross‑functional supply issues.

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Logistics or a related discipline.
• Approximately 5–8 years of purchasing / procurement experience within manufacturing.
• Strong understanding of MRP/ERP principles and hands‑on SAP experience.
• Experience managing production materials, inventory levels, suppliers and supply continuity.
• Familiarity with supplier performance management, quality non‑conformance issues and supplier audits would be advantageous.
• Exposure to regulated manufacturing environments and standards such as ISO 13485 / ISO 9001 would be highly advantageous.
• Good analytical, problem‑solving and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the maturity to independently manage supply‑related issues.
• Experience guiding junior team members or supporting purchasing team activities would be advantageous.
