Job summary

Moody's Investors Service in Singapore is seeking an experienced Corporate Counsel to support customer commercial contracts for SaaS software, data licenses, and complex professional services across Southeast Asia. The role collaborates with sales, product, finance, and operations to implement Moody's policies regionally and globally.

The ideal candidate has 6–12 years in law firms or in‑house, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to explain contracting policies to business stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 6-12 years’ experience in law firm and/or in-house
• Experience in financial services or technology industries and working with governmental or public entities preferred
• Independent self-starter with sound judgment and ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced regional environment
• Strong written and communication, able to explain legal and contracting policies to business stakeholders
• Personable and collaborative team player with strong legal and commercial acumen
• Basic understanding of AI concepts and interest in responsible AI practices, risk management and ethical use

Responsibilities

• Negotiate customer commercial contracts for SaaS software and data with private and public sector customers; ensure compliance with requirements and policies
• Review, draft, and negotiate a wide range of contracts including licenses, SaaS subscriptions, SLAs, maintenance, professional services, subcontractor, and intercompany agreements
• Provide legal guidance to identify and mitigate risks in line with Moody’s positions
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (sales, marketing, finance, operations) on legal matters
• Represent and update colleagues in APAC Legal on regional matters during meetings
• Track matters and escalate non-standard terms; liaise with subject-matter experts
• Stay updated on legal developments and engage outside counsel cost-effectively when needed
• Develop and maintain contract templates with guidance notes
• Support Moody’s business policies, including preferred contract terms
• Navigate privacy and information security issues in transactions
• Explain contracting policies to sales teams and provide training in Southeast Asia
• Work with in-house lawyers, sales operations, finance, product management, support and delivery teams to close deals
• Be responsive to commercial teams to close deals on acceptable terms
• Complete special projects and streamline internal processes
• Display initiative and creativity to address challenges and achieve objectives
