Job summary
Research and develops new product formulations for local market and overseas clients including improvement of existing formulations.
Acts as the company Regulatory Officer and ensures compliance of all consumer products with ASEAN Cosmetic Directive (ACD) including submission of product notifications to Health Sciences Authority (HSA), Singapore.
Prepares technical documentation such as product data sheet (PDS), certificate of analysis (COA), safety data sheet (SDS) and provides technical support to Sales & Marketing.
Conducts product validation for new formulations or any major changes in existing formulations and troubleshoots quality and microbial issues.
Lead formulation troubleshooting and optimization projects to improve product performance, stability and cost efficiency.
Mentor and guide QC in proper laboratory practices, experimental design and documentation.
Evaluate and recommend new raw materials, ingredients and new technologies to support innovation and product development.
Participate in cross-functional project teams for new product development from concept to commercialization.
Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies and provide recommendation to improve product development and compliance strategies.
Reviews and determine appropriate product testing & analysis (i.e. Preservative Challenge Test, Stability Test, Product Efficacy Test, Cytotoxicity Test, Antimicrobial Efficacy Test, Skin Irritation Test, Antiviral Test), and coordinate with qualified local and overseas laboratories.
Provide analytical support in the evaluation of raw materials, samples and products submitted by customers or affiliates.
Developed, review and updates QA/QC procedures and quality system when necessary.
Act as an advisor for the QA & QC aspect of the department.
Support chemical evaluation and microbial evaluation of raw materials, packaging materials and finished products when required.
Assist to investigates internal and external (customer) complaints and prepares the Non-Conformance Report (NCR).
Conducts Supplier’s audit in accordance with In-house Standards & Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) standards.
Represents the R&D/QA Department in certification and compliance initiatives, actively participating as a committee member for ISO 9001, ISO 13485, ISO22301, GMP, EU MDR.
Responsible for supporting audit preparations, reviewing and maintaining documentation, participating in in ternal and external audits, dressing Audit findings and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Acts as company representative to professional organizations and/or society (i.e. Society of Cosmetic Scientists of Singapore, SCSS).
Any other area of responsibilities that the company deems necessary.
Competency requirements
Degree in chemistry / cosmetic and background in medical industry.
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in product formulation and laboratory testing preferably in wet wipes, disinfectants or consumer chemical products.
Hands on experience in audit, including internal audits, supplier audits or certification audits.
Strong technical skills in formulation development, stability testing and microbial evaluation.
Excellent documentation, problem solving and communication skills.
Ability to mentor junior staff lead projects and drive continuous improvement.
