Job summary

Manpower Staffing Services (Singapore) Pte Ltd in Singapore is seeking a Mechanical/Structural Designer to support engineers in developing drawings, BOMs, and layouts for hyperscale data center modules.

You will validate designs, ensure compliance with QA/QC and industry standards, coordinate with vendors, and lead rapid design/build upgrades while maintaining safety and reliability across complex piping, structural, and mechanical systems.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 7 years’ experience in mechanical design.
• Experience in sheet metals, weldment and large assemblies is preferred.
• Ability to produce drawings/sketches to illustrate design/ideas.
• Experience working with computer-aided design (CAD).
• Fasttrack design/build projects and/or multiple upgrade projects.
• Detailed understanding and experience in piping systems, layout, routing and components.
• Basic understanding of electrical equipment and system design.

Responsibilities

• Support the Engineers and Engineering Manager in providing drawings and equipment BOM as per customer requirements independently.
• The Mechanical / Structural Designer will support the service personnel in solving problems by simulating the problems in modelling and/or drawings.
• Check drawings/designs; interface communication, and ensure the accuracy, reliability, efficiency, and safety of scopes of work for Hyperscale Data Center Modules.
• Resolve problems by identifying and selecting solutions through the application of acquired technical experience and analysis of factual information.
• Support the goals and programs established by the management team.
• Provide and check drawings / BOM as per customer requirements.
• Prepare bulk MTOs and detailed BOMs with no supervision from Engineer.
• Ensure drawings follow the Engineering and QA/QC standards.
• Prepare layout drawings to customer to present the proposed equipment and its function.
• Prepare and complete various Mechanical, Piping, Structural deliverable drawings and documents.
• Prepare and compile installation procedure for submission to customer.
• Supervise the outsourcing of engineering design work to 3rd party engineering/design firms.
• Review vendor data and drawings to ensure compliance with client specifications or applicable standards.
• Provide 'Lessons learned' feedback and update tools accordingly.

Job description

• The Mechanical / Structural Designer will support the service personnel in solving problems by simulating the problems in modelling and/or drawings.
• The Mechanical / Structural Designer will be responsible for checking drawings /designs; interface communication, and ensuring the accuracy, reliability, efficiency, and safety of the scopes of work for Hyperscale Data Center Modules meets customer’s requirements and Industrial Standards they produce.

• Prepare layout drawings to customer to present the proposed equipment and the function of the equipment.
• Prepare and complete various Mechanical, Piping, Structural deliverable drawings and documents such as piping layout/general arrangements, piping isometrics, piping schedule, piping tie-point/ interface drawings, piping insulation details, structural general arrangement drawings, structural weld details /notes, structural connection detail drawings, foundation support details, equipment mounting /support details, pipe support details, weight / COG reports, manual valve list etc.
• Prepare and compile installation procedure for submission to customer.
• Supervise the outsourcing of engineering design work to 3rd party engineering /design firms.
• Review, as required, vendor data and drawings to ensure compliance with client specifications or applicable standards.
• Provide“ Lessons learned” feedback and utilize findings from the process to update tools
