Job summary

Merck Gruppe - MSD Sharp & Dohme in Singapore seeks a Senior Specialist, Data Science (AI/ML Imaging & Omics) to advance biomarker sciences across multimodal data. You will design AI/ML imaging pipelines, integrate imaging with omics and clinical data, and help translate insights into biomarker solutions that inform drug development.

You will collaborate with a cross-functional team in Biopolis, publish findings and present results to internal teams and external partners while staying up to date

Qualifications

• A PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Electrical/Biomedical Engineering, Biomedical Sciences, Computational Biology, Physics, or a related discipline, or a master’s/bachelor’s with 5+ years AI/ML research experience.
• Strong background in computer vision, machine learning and deep learning with medical imaging experience.
• Hands-on programming experience in Python and/or R with ITK, SITK, OpenCV, scikit-learn, PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Experience in medical image analysis and AI/ML imaging pipelines across MRI/CT/PET/OCT.
• Experience with large-scale imaging datasets (biobanks/clinical cohorts) and quantitative biomarker development.
• Familiarity with AWS, HPC, Google Cloud, Azure, Databricks; strong interest in biomedical data integration.
• Knowledge of disease biology in cardiometabolic, immunological, neurological, or ophthalmological areas is advantageous.
• Strong collaboration, communication and independent working abilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop AI/ML and imaging analytics pipelines for multimodal medical images and omics data to derive biomarkers.
• Design and validate AI-enabled imaging analytics workflows including segmentation, registration and feature extraction.
• Integrate imaging phenotypes with molecular and clinical data to interpret biology and support drug discovery.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners and communicate results to diverse audiences.
• Publish findings and contribute to study design and project proposals.
