Job summary

PENROSE TECH (SINGAPORE) PTE. LTD. is seeking a seasoned backend engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable services powering core products.

You will own features end-to-end, drive architecture decisions, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, reliable systems. The role requires 5+ years of experience, proficiency in Go/Python/Java/Rust, and strong database and cloud/containerization skills, with a focus on API design and scalable architectures.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in at least one backend language such as Go, Python, Java, or Rust.
• Relational and NoSQL databases: PostgreSQL, Redis, MongoDB.
• Cloud platforms, containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD.
• System design, distributed systems and API design knowledge.
• Good communication and cross-border collaboration skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain scalable backend services and APIs for core products.
• Own features end to end from design to deployment and monitoring.
• Make architecture decisions focusing on performance, reliability and security.
• Review code and mentor junior/mid engineers.
• Collaborate with product/design/business to translate requirements into solutions.
• Improve CI/CD pipelines, observability and development workflows.
• Troubleshoot production issues and drive root-cause fixes.
