Job summary

Peoplebank Hong Kong Limited is seeking a Senior Software Developer in Singapore (Hybrid) for a 12-month contract to support a scientific data governance and discovery platform used across a large research organisation.

You will design and deliver backend services in Python, build REST APIs, and manage database migrations, cloud infrastructure, and CI/CD pipelines, with emphasis on quality and documentation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of production software development experience.
• Strong Python programming with a web framework.
• Proven experience designing and developing REST APIs.
• Hands-on experience with database migrations in production.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, AWS CDK, CloudFormation) or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend applications and feature modules using Python.
• Design and implement REST APIs, including authentication, authorisation, validation and error handling.
• Manage database schema changes and migrations for live production systems.
• Build and maintain cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
• Develop automated unit and integration tests to ensure software quality.
• Participate in code reviews and collaborate with the engineering team through branching and pull request workflows.
• Support CI/CD pipeline development and maintenance.
• Prepare technical documentation and operational runbooks.
• Contribute to frontend development when required to deliver assigned features.
