Job summary

Airwallex is hiring an experienced backend engineer for its Liquidity Platform in Singapore. You will design and build backend services for global liquidity management, safeguarding, and invest­ment workflows, ensuring accurate funds flow across currencies and entities.

You will work on modern distributed systems, event-driven architectures and microservices, collaborating with Product, Treasury, Finance, Legal, Compliance and Data teams to deliver observable, reliable APIs and data contracts.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience building and operating backend systems in production.
• Strong programming experience in JVM languages (Kotlin/Java) or similar backend stack.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems: concurrency, data consistency, retries and failure modes.
• Experience with REST and/or gRPC APIs and relational databases.
• Proficiency with event-driven architectures and message brokers like Kafka.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and own backend services for global liquidity management and safeguarding workflows.
• Develop systems ensuring funds are available across entities, accounts and currencies.
• Build scalable platforms for liquidity forecasting, cash positioning and fund movement.
