Job summary

Epiq AI Labs, the innovation hub behind Epiq's AI platform for corporate legal departments and global law firms, seeks an experienced backend engineer to design and operate scalable services. You will own asynchronous processing, data access layers, and authentication, contributing end-to-end as the platform grows.

You will work with Python and C#/.NET, PostgreSQL, and cloud infrastructure, ensuring reliability, multi-tenant security, and observable systems with metrics, logs, and traces.

Qualifications

• 7+ years building backend services in production
• Enterprise software for high availability and security
• Experience designing scalable REST APIs and services
• Strong Python development experience
• Strong C#/.NET development experience
• SQL database design, tuning, and migrations
• Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure
• Experience with message queues (RabbitMQ or Kafka)
• Familiarity with containerized deployment and observability

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, test, and operate backend services and APIs
• Build and maintain asynchronous processing with retry and idempotency
• Lead design discussions and drive reviews across teams
• Implement OAuth2/OIDC/SAML authentication for multi-tenant environments
• Design and optimize PostgreSQL schemas and migrations
• Integrate Solr and Qdrant for search and vector storage
• Instrument services with metrics, logs, and traces
• Write automated tests and maintain CI pipelines
• Collaborate with AI engineers, backend engineers, product management, and security stakeholders
