Job summary

Pratt & Whitney Singapore is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems powering our AI-driven digital inspection platform. You will collaborate with global teams to deliver reliable APIs, improve performance, and secure architectures across the aftermarket network.

You will work in a hybrid environment, using Python, FastAPI, MongoDB, and Azure, while aligning with Agile practices to ship high-quality software and drive customer value.

Qualifications

• This role requires a Bachelor's degree in CS or related field and 7+ years of Python backend experience.
• Hands-on experience with FastAPI, MongoDB and Azure Cloud is essential.
• Strong problem-solving, secure code practices and scalable architecture knowledge are expected.
• Familiarity with Agile/Kanban is preferred.

Role Summary

What You Will Do

• Build state‑of‑the‑art AI products that solve real‑world customer problems.
• Implement, enhance, and maintain core backend features using Python, FastAPI, and MongoDB on Azure.
• Work in an international, high‑ownership team that’s hungry for growth with Agile, iterative, data‑driven development.
• Collaborate closely with software, Product, and AI teams to ship AI‑assisted engine inspection solutions for aviation professionals globally.
• Optimize backend performance and API responsiveness for reliability and scale.
• Help shape the tech stack and level up our backend systems.
• Contribute to quality assurance guidelines, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and developer tooling.
• Apply software development best practices to ensure high‑quality code, maintainable architectures, and adherence to security and coding standards.
• Proactively surface and resolve performance bottlenecks and architectural risks.

Qualifications You Must Have

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline.
• 7+ years of experience in Python backend development for SaaS platforms, with hands‑on experience with FastAPI, MongoDB and Azure Cloud.
• You have strong problem‑solving abilities and a proactive mindset to identify and address challenges to provide our customers with an outstanding experience.
• A track record of clean, maintainable, secure code and thoughtful architecture (you favor KISS over cleverness).
• You are curious, eager to learn, and committed to continuously expanding your knowledge within software development.
• Deep grasp of backend performance and API optimization.
• You can explain and defend your design choices.
• You are a team player who actively contributes ideas, gives and receives feedback regularly, and communicates early about issues, uncertainties, risks, and opportunities.
• Self‑directed, proactive, and reliable at managing your own time and deadlines.
• You are familiar with an Agile/Kanban environment and embody an agile mindset and lean principles.

Qualifications We Prefer

• Familiarity with Redis.
• Experience with Kubernetes, specifically AKS.
• Experience with enterprise or aviation software products.
• Experience collaborating with globally distributed teams.
