Job summary

Ethos Search Associates Pte. Ltd. is seeking a software engineer for a 1-year contract based in One North, Singapore.

You will implement backend feature modules, create REST API endpoints, manage data migrations, and contribute to infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD pipelines. Ideal candidates have 5+ years building production software, strong Python web framework experience, REST API design, and a proven track record with automated tests.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years building and maintaining production software.
• Production experience with Python and web frameworks.
• Experience designing and building REST APIs (authentication, authorisation and error handling).
• Experience writing and deploying database schema migrations for live production systems.
• Experience in authoring infrastructure-as-code from scratch (AWS CDK, Terraform, CloudFormation or equivalent).
• Experience with commercial cloud.
• Experience working within a branching and pull request workflow.
• Experience in reviewing others' code.
• Current and frequent writing of automated tests.
• Able to build or maintain automated CI/CD pipelines.
• Accustomed to AI-assisted development tooling as part of a normal workflow.
• Strong written technical English for documentation.

Responsibilities

• Backend feature modules implemented per specifications and acceptance criteria.
• Create REST API endpoints with validation, authorization, and error handling.
• Modify data models and write migrations for live deployments.
• Author and maintain infrastructure-as-code.
• Develop unit and integration tests.
• Review code as author and reviewer.
• Produce technical docs and runbooks.
• Contribute to frontend tasks when needed.
• Provide daily technical guidance and code-review feedback.
