Job summary

SUTD Academy is seeking a Senior Associate to lead Design·AI trainer-innovator activities on a one-year contract. You will design and deliver design-centric, AI-enabled programmes that bridge design, technology, and human-centred innovation at CET sectors.

You will apply AI-enabled design tools, lead hands-on projects from ideation to prototyping, and collaborate with faculty and industry partners to showcase impact and translate research into practice.

Senior Associate, Design·AI Trainer-Innovator, SUTD Academy (One-Year Contract)

About The Role

Join our SUTD Academy Design·AI team to design and deliver design-centric, AI-enabled programmes that integrates design, technology, and human-centred innovation. The role is responsible for shaping and operationalising Design·AI as a core capability within SUTD - supporting education, research, industry collaboration in CET sectors.

This position requires a proven design trainer-innovator with strong hands-on experience and practice in AI and translate emerging AI capabilities into impactful design outcomes for organisations, aligned with SUTD's mission and Singapore's innovation agenda.

What You Will Do

1. Design and Delivery of Design·AI programmes

• Contribute to the design and delivery of Design·AI-related workshops, and experiential learning programmes, especially in CET sector.
• Support in design projects and innovation challenges, bridging theory with applied practice.
• Where needed, work with faculty across SUTD pillars to integrate AI-enabled design into CET programmes, including postgraduate, executive education etc.

2. Hands-On Design Making Using AI

• Lead and participate directly in end-to-end design projects, from problem framing and concept development to prototyping and deployment.
• Apply AI across design processes, including:
  • Generative ideation and concept exploration
  • Product, interaction, visual, and experience design
  • Rapid prototyping, simulation, and iterative testing
  • Design automation and augmentation using AI tools
• Uphold high standards of design craftsmanship, rigour, and human-centred outcomes, consistent with SUTD's design excellence.

3. Industry Collaboration and Engagement

• Support and deliver industry-engaged projects, applying Design·AI to real-world challenges in partnership with public agencies, industry, and community. stakeholders.
• Develop design artefacts, prototypes, case studies, and showcases that demonstrate SUTD's Design·AI capabilities and impact.
• Where needed, support and contribute to design-led research and translational projects, in collaboration Faculty and/ or external partners.

Who We Are Looking For

• Relevant Degrees with min. 4 years' experience
• Proven track record in design making using AI, supported by a strong portfolio of applied projects.
• Formal training or substantial design and/or AI experience in domains/disciplines (e.g. product, engineering, experience design, systems etc).
• Hands-on experience with AI-enabled design tools, generative systems, and computational workflows.
• Demonstrated experience in project delivery in academic, industry, and/or innovation environments.
• Ability to bridge design, technology, education, and stakeholder needs effectively.
• Strong communication, facilitation, and collaboration skills within interdisciplinary contexts.
