Job summary

Responsibilities

What the role is

The Senior Analytical Scientist will be involved in laboratory activities, lead research and development, and support the quality assurance activities as required or assigned.

What you will be working on

Technical Duties:

• To provide quality examination and reporting of routine/non-routine samples and seizure exhibits in a timely manner.
• To supervise and provide advice to junior scientists and laboratory officers on standard and investigative cases, ensuring cases meet turn-around-time (TAT)
• To lead assigned research and development projects, and carry out method optimisation and validation studies.
• To review and improve testing procedures, quality control measures, and work processes to optimize throughput whilst maintaining analytical integrity.
• To provide expert testimony in court.

Quality Assurance Duties:

• Support QA programme required for the testing of samples
• Support the maintenance, calibration and qualification of instruments and equipment
• Record keeping for key quality activities
• Prepare SOPs and Lab Manuals

Management/ Other Duties:

• Lead/contribute to assigned work groups
• Participate in cross-functional or external collaborations
• To represent the lab at workgroup meets, where necessary
