Senior AI Infrastructure Engineer (Go/Ruby)

Workato; Singapore; On-site; SGD 140,000 - 210,000; Full time

Job summary

Workato is building a scalable AI infrastructure layer that connects enterprise systems to LLMs. We seek a senior engineer who can design MCP and AI Gateways, implement high-performance services in Go or Ruby, and own the data layer with PostgreSQL.

You will tackle protocol-level development, streaming, and observability, while shaping how AI workflows become robust, observable, and secure at scale.

Qualifications

• Senior-level experience (5+ years) shipping and operating production services in Go, Ruby, or both.
• Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL from an application perspective: indexing, transactions, and query tuning.
• Experience with Kubernetes, containers, and distributed systems.
• Strong skills in concurrency, profiling, and system-level performance optimization.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop the MCP Gateway and AI Gateway — production services mediating between applications, AI agents, and LLM providers.
• Build high-throughput, low-latency network services (TCP, TLS, HTTP/1.1/2, JSON streaming).
• Own the data layer from the application side with deep PostgreSQL expertise.
• Design for concurrency with worker pools, queues, and backpressure; profile under load and fix bottlenecks.
• Drive observability through metrics, tracing, and logging to reveal latency, token usage, and cost per request.
