Qualifications

• At least 8 years of security operations experience in a regulated environment.

• Experience building/improving security operations, managing external providers.
• Hands-on in Microsoft security ecosystem (Sentinel, Defender XDR, Entra ID, Azure).

Job description

Our client is an established financial services organisation with a strong presence in Asia and an international footprint. As part of the continued build-out of its cybersecurity function, the organisation is looking to appoint a Security Operations Lead in Singapore. This is a newly created leadership role within a lean team, offering significant opportunity to shape the security operations capability and contribute directly to how the function evolves.

Role

Reporting to the Head of Cybersecurity, you will own the Security Operations pillar while remaining hands-on as a working lead. You will oversee monitoring and detection, threat intelligence, vulnerability management, security awareness and security posture reporting, while managing an outsourced SOC and developing an internal analyst. You will also provide operational and technical support during major incidents, working closely with incident response, infrastructure, compliance and senior stakeholders. The environment is Microsoft-centric, including Sentinel, Defender XDR, Entra ID and Azure security tooling, but success in this role will depend equally on judgement, ownership and the ability to influence across the business.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of security operations experience, including leadership or team management experience within a regulated environment.
• A proactive and self-directed mindset, with the ability to operate comfortably in ambiguity, establish priorities and drive outcomes without requiring extensive structure.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the judgement to balance cybersecurity requirements against business impact and operational priorities.
• Demonstrated ability to build and improve security operations capabilities, manage external providers, develop team members and influence remediation across functions outside your direct reporting line.
• Strong hands-on grounding in the Microsoft security ecosystem, including Sentinel, Defender XDR, Entra ID and Azure, together with experience supporting major incident response, detection strategy and vulnerability management.
