Job summary

Nexus International School (Singapore) is seeking a Secondary School Teacher to teach Physics within the Science department, delivering IB MYP, IGCSE, and IBDP curricula.

The successful candidate will be an experienced, reflective practitioner using inquiry-based teaching to motivate students aged 11–18, with a commitment to safeguarding and an inclusive, student-centered learning environment. Start date 01 August 2027.

Qualifications

• A recognised teaching qualification.
• Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Engineering, or related field.
• Evidence of continued relevant professional development.
• At least 2 years of international school experience with IBMYP, IGCSE or IBDP (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Use inquiry-based teaching to create positive learning environments and motivate learners.
• Teach Physics to groups of learners aged 11–18 across years 7–13 within IB MYP, IGCSE and IBDP.
• Collaborate with colleagues to meet Nexus Teacher Professional Standards and drive professional growth.
• Engage parents through learner-led conferences and maintain regular dialogue on learner progress.
• Integrate information technology to enhance learning and support real-world problem solving.
• Participate in whole-school events and, when assigned, act as a form tutor to help learners set goals.

Education

JOB DESCRIPTION Seecondary School Teachers are informed, reflective practitioners who use inquiry-based teaching strategies to create positive learning environments that motivate and challenge learners to become proactive, life-long learners and leaders. As a member of our Science team, you will be teaching groups of learners between years 7 to 13 (ages 11 to 18). We deliver the IB MYP, IGCSE (Edexcel), and IBDP across the Secondary school.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES Employing effective pedagogy that enables children to become successful and self-regulated learners who achieve personal excellence by:

• Building learning-focused relationships;
• Empowering children to become independent learners;
• Using appropriate assessment tools for formative and summative assessment;
• Using assessment information to plan progression;
• Providing high-quality scaffolding and feedback to learners;
• Encouraging learners to reflect on their learning;
• Engaging learners in setting learning goals;
• Involving parents in their children’s learning through learner-led conferences and regular parent-teacher dialogue;
• Employing and integrating IT to enhance learning;
• Supporting learners to solve authentic problems related to real-world situations;
• Collaborating positively within a team and across teams;
• Meeting the Nexus Teacher Professional Standards, aspiring to grow and develop and being committed to professional learning;
• Involvement in whole-school events and activities as required;
• Working with learners as a form tutor as assigned, helping them set and achieve personal goals.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

Essential:

• A recognised teaching qualification
• Bachelor’s degree (or higher qualification) in Physics, Engineering, or a related field
• Evidence of continued relevant professional development
• At least 2 years of relevant experience in an international school environment where the school curriculum focused on IBMYP, IGCSE or IBDP (preferred).

Desirable:

• A successful track record of teaching IBDP and IGCSE Physics
• Experience or interest in teaching IBDP Design Technology
• Experience working with EAL learners and learners with diverse needs
• At least 2 years of relevant experience in an international school environment where the school curriculum focused on IBMYP, IGCSE or IBDP (preferred).
• Experience contributing to CCAs, coding clubs, robotics programmes, competitions, hackathons or similar enrichment activities
• Ability to contribute to Years 7 to 9 Entrepreneurship & Emerging Technology, including opportunities for learners to apply technology to innovation and value creation
