Job summary

V-SWIFT PTE. LTD. is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to support science lessons and annual practicals. You will prepare materials, set up and test apparatus, and assist teachers during demonstrations and tests.

You will also maintain lab cleanliness, handle chemicals and waste, and help with inventory and housekeeping tasks to ensure safe, well-organized spaces for learning.

Qualifications

• GCE O Level or equivalent with science passes.
• Nitec or Higher Nitec in a science-related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Prepare materials, apparatus, and specimens for lessons and tests.

Job description

1. Laboratory Preparation andSetup

• Preparematerials, apparatus, and/ specimens for science lessons and annual practicaltest.
• Set up and testexperimental apparatus before lessons to ensure functionality and safety.
• Assist teachersin conducting practical lessons, practical test, demonstrations, and scienceexperiments.
• Dismantle andclean up after science laboratory lessons, ensuring all equipment are properlystored.

2. Laboratory Maintenance andHousekeeping

• Maintaincleanliness and tidiness of laboratories, preparation rooms, and storage areas.
• Clean and washlaboratory apparatus, glassware, and equipment after use.
• Ensure thatequipment and facilities are well-maintained and in working condition.
• Assist inregular pest control, ventilation, and general upkeep of laboratory areas.

3. Safety and Compliance

• Ensurecompliance with safety guidelines.
• Keep SafetyData Sheets (SDS) for all chemicals and ensure proper labelling of bottles andcontainers.
• Assist in thesafe storage, handling, and disposal of chemicals and biological waste.

4. Inventory and ResourceManagement

• Conduct simplestock-taking and update inventory records regularly.
• Prepare andpropose procurement of science materials and equipment to HOD Science/ LHScience.
• Receive andverify delivery of items ordered and ensure proper storage.

5. Support for GreenEnvironment/ Science department Initiatives

• Maintain lifestocks such as plants and other living specimens used in science lessons.
• Maintain andmonitor the operations of indoor hydroponic system, support the upkeep ofgarden green spaces.
• Assist teachersin preparing materials for teaching and learning/ recess programme activities.

Officer will report to the Headof Department (Science).

There is noover time pay.
