Job summary

RMA CONSULTANTS PTE LTD in Singapore seeks a School Lab Assistant to prepare apparatus, assist teachers during science lessons, and support students in groups.

Responsibilities include stock taking, budget suggestions, maintaining science rooms and garden activities, and assisting with after-school programs and learning journeys.

Qualifications

• Education: Minimum GCE “O” Level qualification.
• Experience in a school environment preferred.
• Basic computing skills in Word and Excel.
• Knowledge of primary science activities is a plus.

Job Description & Requirements

• Prepare and set up apparatus and resources for Science practical lessons.
• Be present during practical lessons and support teacher during lab demonstration or group work. Facilitate activities in the small groups.
• Monitor resources and make appropriate recommendations for lessons.
• Try out resources and share with the teachers or Science Subject Representatives on the usage.
• Record items that need to be purchased during preparation so that budget can be tapped on and used effectively.
• Carry out stock take of apparatus/materials and disposal of redundant items. Inform teacher-in-charge for replenishment of needed apparatus/materials.
• Spruce up the look and feel of Science rooms Eg: display of charts and students work
• Support the Math and Science Departments in after school lessons for students during Olympiad and E2K programme.
• Preparation of teaching and learning resources e.g: cutting of resources, lamination, signage for Science garden, sorting of butterfly kits( by class), seed kits (by class)
• Accompany students for learning journey
• School Garden Maintenance eg: watering of plants, composting, hydroponics
• Cleaning and Maintenance of Science Rooms
• 2) To support any work requirements beyond the stipulated work hours where necessary. Such requirements will be communicated and agreed upon beforehand with personnel and charged against the total contracted hours.
• 3) To perform any other duties as and when assigned by the school.

Qualifications Requirements

• Education: Minimum GCE “O” Level qualification.

Experience Requirements

• Prior experience in a school environment would be preferable
• Prior experience in administraton, laboratory and customer service would be a bonus
• Familiarity with handling and interacting with young children (e.g., aged 7 to 12 years).

Skills and Knowledge Requirement

• Language Proficiency : Good command of the spoken and written English language.
• Basic computing skills in Microsoft applications such as Word and Excel.
• Preferably have basic knowledge in Primary Science activities and its curriculum, preparation and environmental-science activities in primary schools e.g. gardening, hydroponics system
