Job summary

BUSINESS EDGE PERSONNEL SERVICES PTE LTD is seeking a Science Lab Assistant for a school in Yishun. You will prepare teaching materials and activities, assist students with laboratory work, and maintain science rooms and equipment to support lessons.

Hours follow school timetable: Mon-Thu 7:30am–5:00pm (1h lunch), Fri 7:30am–4:30pm (1h lunch). Contract from 1 Jan 2027 to 31 Dec 2027 with an option to extend to 2028. PSLE certificate and at least two years of school lab experience are required.

Qualifications

• PSLE certificate is required.
• At least two years of working experience in school context as a science lab assistant.

Responsibilities

• Prepare teaching materials and learning activities based on Primary Science syllabus.
• Assist students in using apparatus as directed.
• Assist in preparing training materials for students, parents and staff.
• Prepare apparatus, equipment and reagents for laboratory lessons.
• Maintain cleanliness of the Science Rooms and preparation area.
• Maintain apparatus in the Science Labs/Rooms.
• Maintain outdoor science facilities and equipment (ponds, garden, hydroponics, IFS/aquaponics).
• Operate and clean food waste and farming systems (Integrated Farming, aeroponics, hydroponics).
• Maintain stock check/inventory on a termly basis.
• Perform other admin or maintenance duties as assigned by the Authority.

Job Scope:

• Preparing teaching materials and learning activities based on Primary Science syllabus, upon teachers’ requests.
• Assist students in the use of certain apparatus, as directed.
• Assist in preparing training materials to students, parents and staff, as directed.
• Assist in the preparation of apparatus, equipment and reagents for laboratory lessons.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the two Science Rooms, including the preparation room.
• Maintain apparatus in the Science Labs/ Rooms.
• Maintain outdoor Science facilties and equipment in the school (including the ponds, garden, hydroponics system and Integrated Farming Systems (IFS); aquaponics).
• Clean and operate food waste system and farming systems (e.g. Integrated Farming system, aeroponics and hydroponics systems)
• Maintain stock check/ inventory system (e.g, T & L resources, lab equipments, Sparkle Kits, etc) on a termly basis.
• Any other administrative task or indoor/outdoor science facilities and equipment maintenance related duties as assigned by the Authority.

Requirements:

• At least a PSLE certifcate and above
• At least two years of working experience in school context as a science lab assistant.

Working Hours:

• Mondays to Thursdays: 7:30am to 5.00pm, inclusive of 1hr lunch break
• Fridays: 7:30am to 4.30pm, inclusive of 1hr lunch break
• Services not required on Saturdays, Sundays and gazetted public holidays

Contract Period:1 Jan 2027 to 31 Dec 2027 (option to extend for one more year from 1 Jan 2028 to 31 Dec 2028)
