Job summary

Hong Wen School is seeking a part-time Science Laboratory Assistant to support daily laboratory operations and safety. The role requires prior lab experience and basic digital skills to maintain records, stock books and communicate with staff.

Responsibilities include safe lab conduct, equipment inspection, stock control, and assisting teachers with lesson preparation and post‑class cleanup. The position runs 16 hours per week with a set contract period.

Qualifications

• Experience working in a science laboratory, preferably in a primary school setting.
• Basic digital literacy to maintain records, stock books, and email/messaging communication.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, clean and tidy laboratory environment at all times and ensure equipment and specimens are ready for use.
• Promptly report faulty machines and display 'Out of Order' signs until rectified.
• Ensure proper disposal of broken glassware and other breakages in accordance with safety procedures.
• Inspect Bunsen burners and high‑risk items and secure them after use.
• Maintain an up‑to‑date stock book and breakage records; alert supervisor for replacements.
• Check and replenish first aid supplies to ensure adequate stock.
• Assist Science teachers in lesson preparation and post‑lesson clean‑up of equipment.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the Science Head of Department (HOD).
