RTC (Singapore) Trading Co. Pte. Ltd. is seeking a Design Development Manager to turn retail briefs into practical fixture solutions, from concept through installation. You will work with the Key Account Manager, communicate directly with clients, and create SolidWorks models, drawings, and design packs.
The role blends creative thinking with engineering awareness and project management to ensure fixtures meet brand standards, budgets, quality, and timelines across regional and global programs.
We are looking for a creative, technically capable, and client-focused individual who can turn retail briefs into practical, well-designed fixture solutions and support their delivery from concept through installation.
Working closely with the Key Account Manager, you will support active programs for global and regional brands, communicate directly with clients, and take a hands-on role in creating SolidWorks models, technical drawings, and design packs. This role combines creative thinking, engineering awareness, and project management to ensure fixtures meet brand expectations, budgets, quality standards, and timelines.
Assist the Key Account Manager in managing regional programs and major client accounts.
Communicate directly with clients to understand briefs, present design proposals, clarify technical requirements, and discuss revisions.
Keep clients informed of project progress, milestones, approvals, and deliverables.
Prepare quotations, basic costing sheets, presentations, and relevant commercial documentation.
Contribute fresh ideas for retail fixtures, displays, and merchandising solutions that reflect each brand's identity and enhance the customer experience.
Translate client briefs, sketches, and concepts into detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using SolidWorks.
Prepare and update design packs, including fixture layouts, elevations, sections, key details, material and finish specifications, and assembly information.
Develop and refine designs with consideration for visual appeal, functionality, durability, manufacturing feasibility, installation, and cost.
Maintain accurate drawing revisions and incorporate client feedback, prototype findings, and engineering changes throughout the project.
Review client drawings and fixture concepts to identify construction requirements, material options, technical risks, and value-engineering opportunities.
Work with Design and Engineering teams to develop production-ready solutions while preserving the approved design intent.
Coordinate technical communication between clients, sourcing teams, suppliers, manufacturers, and project teams to resolve questions and maintain progress.
Participate in prototype and sample reviews, assessing appearance, construction, functionality, finishes, and quality.
Ensure approved drawings, specifications, and revisions are clearly documented and communicated before production.
Coordinate projects from briefing and design development through sampling, production, delivery, and installation.
Track schedules, drawing submissions, client approvals, samples, and production milestones.
Follow up with internal teams and suppliers to keep deliverables on schedule and flag potential delays or quality concerns early.
Support installation planning and the resolution of site issues, coordinating drawing amendments or replacement components where required.
Maintain clear project records, action lists, and approval histories.
Diploma or degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Mechanical Engineering, Interior Design, or a related discipline.
Hands-on proficiency in SolidWorks, with the ability to independently create and amend 3D models and detailed 2D technical drawings.
Experience preparing retail fixture drawings, manufacturing drawings, or design packs.
Creative thinking and a good eye for proportion, materials, finishes, and detail.
Understanding of fixture construction and manufacturing processes, including metalwork, timber, acrylic, and related materials.
Confident communication and presentation skills, with the ability to discuss designs and technical details directly with clients.
Strong organisation and project coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple deliverables and deadlines.
A practical, proactive approach to problem-solving and close attention to detail.
Experience in retail fixtures, point-of-sale displays, shopfitting, or store development is preferred
Self-motivated, highly organized, and open to business travel.
