SSANGYONG ENGINEERING & CONSTRUCTION CO LTD seeks a Safety Officer for a hospital construction project in Singapore. You will implement and monitor WSH policies, conduct site inspections, and ensure compliance with Singapore's workplace safety regulations.

The role requires a Diploma in WSH and at least 3 years' safety experience in construction, with MOM registration. Strong communication and incident investigation skills are essential for coordinating with project teams and subcontractors.

Qualifications

• Diploma or equivalent in Workplace Safety and Health, Occupational Safety, Engineering, or related discipline.
• At least 3 years of relevant workplace safety experience in construction.
• Possess MOM-recognised registration or qualification for Safety Officer in Singapore.
• Good knowledge of Singapore WSH legislation and safety requirements.
• Experience in large-scale building or healthcare construction is an advantage.
• Excellent communication, coordination, inspection and incident investigation skills.

Job Responsibilities

• Implement and monitor workplace safety and health (WSH) policies, procedures, and safety programmes at the hospital construction project.
• Conduct regular site inspections and safety audits to identify unsafe conditions, practices, and potential hazards.
• Ensure compliance with applicable Singapore workplace safety and health legislation, regulations, and project safety requirements.
• Advise project management, engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors on safety matters and preventive measures.
• Conduct risk assessments and review risk control measures, safe work procedures, and method statements.
• Organise safety briefings, toolbox meetings, and workplace safety training for workers and site personnel.
• Monitor high-risk activities, including work at height, lifting operations, excavation, confined space work, and hot work, where applicable.
• Investigate workplace incidents, near misses, and unsafe practices, and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
• Maintain safety records, inspection reports, risk assessments, training records, and other WSH documentation.
• Monitor subcontractors’ safety performance and ensure compliance with project safety requirements.
• Coordinate with relevant authorities, the project management team, and other stakeholders on safety-related matters.
• Follow up on safety observations, non-compliance issues, and corrective actions until closure.
• Support emergency preparedness, evacuation drills, and implementation of emergency response procedures.
• Perform other workplace safety and health duties as assigned by management.

Job Requirements

• Diploma or equivalent qualification in Workplace Safety and Health, Occupational Safety, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• At least 3 years of relevant workplace safety experience in the construction industry.
• Possess a valid and applicable MOM-recognised registration or qualification required for the appointed Safety Officer role in Singapore.
• Good knowledge of Singapore WSH legislation, construction safety requirements, risk assessment, and safe work procedures.
• Experience in large-scale building or infrastructure projects is preferred; hospital or healthcare construction experience will be an advantage.
• Good communication, coordination, inspection, and incident investigation skills.
• Able to work independently, enforce safety requirements, and coordinate effectively with project teams and subcontractors.
• Proficient in preparing safety reports and maintaining WSH documentation.
• Willing to work on aconstruction site and support project safety activities as required.
