Occasional travel to pilot and deployment sites
Akkodis is supporting an innovative robotics and automation initiative focused on deploying autonomous, AI-assisted robotic systems into industrial and rail maintenance environments.
As a Robotics Deployment & Simulation Engineer, you will be the technical owner on the ground, helping translate operational requirements into successful robotic deployments. You will work across operations, engineering, quality, HSE, IT, data/AI teams and technology suppliers to take projects from scope definition and simulation through commissioning, testing, operation and value demonstration.
The role combines field engineering, robotics deployment, 3D simulation and digital twins, system integration and stakeholder coordination.
We are looking for an engineer with a strong combination of robotics deployment, engineering simulation, industrial operations and project coordination experience, ideally with exposure to rail, mobility or other mission-critical environments.
Degree in General Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
Hands-on experience supporting the deployment of autonomous robotic systems, robotic inspection solutions or industrial automation from Proof of Concept (POC) through to operational deployment.
Experience analysing maintenance plans, operational procedures and inspection activities to identify and scope tasks suitable for robotic automation.
Strong value analysis / business case mindset, with the ability to assess automation opportunities and quantify operational benefits.
Experience developing and executing robot test strategies, including defining test scenarios, inspection sequences and performance validation.
Practical experience with robotics simulation and modelling to validate robot behaviour, inspection sequences, trajectories and operational scenarios before physical deployment.
Strong 3D modelling and digital engineering capabilities, with hands-on experience using tools such as CATIA V5, AutoCAD, Revit, Twinmotion or equivalent 3D/CAD/simulation platforms.
Exposure to digital twins, virtual environments, 3D visualisation or simulation-based validation is highly desirable.
Experience working across operations, engineering, quality and industrial teams, coordinating multiple stakeholders to deliver technology deployments.
Ability to translate technical and operational requirements into clear specifications, test plans and implementation activities.
Experience supporting solution testing, acceptance validation and technical requirement verification.
Familiarity with industrial maintenance, inspection processes, rail/mobility environments or other operationally complex settings.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and proactively identify deployment risks and practical solutions.
Comfortable working between field operations, engineering teams, technology suppliers and project/program management.
Willingness to travel to pilot and deployment sites and work in operational environments where safety, site access and operational constraints are critical.
Autonomous Robotics & Inspection: Experience with autonomous visual inspection robotics and supporting deployment from POC through operational implementation.
Robotics Testing & Simulation: Experience developing robot test strategies and using simulation to validate robot behaviour and inspection sequences.
Maintenance & Automation Analysis: Strong exposure to analysing maintenance plans, identifying inspection tasks suitable for automation and conducting value analysis.
3D Modelling & Engineering: Hands-on experience with CATIA V5, AutoCAD, Revit and Twinmotion, including BIM and structural modelling.
Technical & Cross-functional Coordination: Experience translating technical requirements into specifications, consolidating information across teams and supporting solution testing.
The ideal candidate will have experience similar to an Innovation / Robotics Deployment Engineer who has already worked on taking an emerging technology from POC -> testing -> simulation -> field deployment -> operational adoption.
Experience in rail, autonomous inspection, mobility, industrial maintenance, robotics or other mission-critical operational environments will be highly valued.
Take the next step in your career journey with Akkodis.
