Job summary

Bosch Energy and Building Solutions in Singapore seeks a Senior Research Scientist to join its R&D team. You will explore AI for sustainability, HVAC, and control, collaborating across business units and external partners to develop and commercialize innovative solutions.

You will lead end-to-end AI development from data to deployment, run experiments, build prototypes, and establish collaborations with local universities and institutions.

Qualifications

• PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or related field addressing AI methods research.
• Experience applying AI/ML to time-series data, including signal processing and control systems.
• Strong publication record in AI top-tier venues.
• Proficient with Generative AI and LLMs to accelerate research cycles.
• Hands-on experience leading end-to-end AI projects from concept to deployment.

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Scientist to join Bosch's Research and Development team in Singapore. As a part of our global research unit, our Singapore team’s focus is on the domain of sustainability. This role offers an exciting opportunity to explore the usage of AI and advanced solutions in the field of HVAC engineering and control. As a Senior Research Scientist, you will collaborate with the research team, business units and external partners to develop cutting-edge technologies and commercialize innovative solutions, contributing to Bosch's long-term product portfolio.

What you will do (Key Responsibilities)

• Drive AI innovation in the area of Urban Solutions and Sustainability, particularly in the Sustainable HVACs domain, focusing on AI-enabled features for enhanced user comfort, wellbeing, and indoor air quality.
• Co-create with business units in relation to sustainability initiatives, contribute to the long-term product portfolio of Bosch, perform customer interviews, formulate problem statements, and generate innovation pitching and research proposals.
• Lead the end-to-end development of AI solutions, from data acquisition to modeling, feature extraction, and the creation of new user-centric functions.
• Design and execute experiments to validate the ideas, developing prototypes that demonstrate tangible improvements.
• Build cooperation, assess, and identify “Best-In-Class” within local institutions and universities for potential research and innovation collaboration.
• Regular alignment with Strategic Research Portfolio Owner, quarterly project review updates, stakeholder management, and idea pitching via the Bosch Innovation Framework.

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For (Qualifications & Skills)

• PhD degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field with a thesis and projects addressing AI methods research.
• Deep expertise in researching and applying AI and machine learning to time-series data, including direct experience with signal processing, system identification, control systems, and developing models (e.g., deep learning, transformers, or time-series forecasting) for applications like anomaly detection, user behavior modeling, or environmental prediction.
• Solid publication record in AI top-tier conferences or journals.
• Proficiency in leveraging Generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs) to accelerate research cycles, from literature review and code generation to data analysis and documentation.
• Demonstrated hands‑on experience leading the end-to-end development of AI solutions, from initial concept and rapid prototyping to deployment and validation in real-world environments.
• Awareness of the latest developments in AI industrial solutions.
• Passion for innovation, an entrepreneurial spirit, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work both independently and in a team, with a good working attitude and the ability to adapt in a dynamic environment.
