Job summary

TAN TOCK SENG HOSPITAL PTE LTD invites applications for a hospital pathology research role focused on central review and annotation of slides, overseeing slide production, and digital image capture for study purposes.

The incumbent will coordinate with the study team, participate in protocol training, ensure regulatory documentation such as DSRB submissions, and maintain rigorous records while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Qualifications

• MBBS or MD preferred or PhD, MSc, or equivalent advanced degree in pathology‑related biomedical sciences, medical laboratory science, or a related discipline
• Formal training in histopathology, including tissue processing, sectioning, staining, and quality control.
• Experience in a hospital pathology department or equivalent laboratory environment is desirable; roles may range from Sr Medical Laboratory Scientist to Principal Medical Laboratory Scientist.
• Experience with regulatory documentation and research administration (DSRB submissions, grant management) is advantageous but not mandatory.
• Demonstrated competency in slide review and annotation.
• Experience supporting research studies or clinical projects, preferably in pathology or a laboratory setting.
• Ability to work within study protocols and governance frameworks.
• Familiarity with digital pathology platforms and image management systems is an advantage.
• Strong organizational and documentation skills for regulatory and study-related records.
• Effective communication to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and maintain pace in a fast environment

Responsibilities

• Contribute to execution of project-funded research activities in the Department of Pathology.
• Undertake central review and annotation of pathology slides and oversee slide production and digital image acquisition.
• Collaborate with study team to align with study protocol needs and training.
• Perform research-level histopathology review and annotation per study protocols with proper documentation.
• Serve as communication link between the study site (TTSH) and main site (BII).
• Ensure archiving and transfer of images to the main site per protocols and requirements.
• Oversee DSRB and grant applications and management including funding sourcing and records.
• Ensure compliance with study protocols and institutional governance.
• Work with multidisciplinary teams to support smooth research execution.
• Undertake other duties as assigned by Reporting Officer, consistent with the role.
