Nanyang Technological University in Singapore invites applications for a position in the lab of Assoc Prof Phillip Grant to develop new synthetic methods in organic chemistry. The role focuses on improving efficiency of organic synthesis and requires a PhD in organic chemistry.

Responsibilities include synthetic research, characterization, method development for drug-like compounds, instrument maintenance, lab duties, and drafting reports.

Formación

• A PhD in organic chemistry.
• Prior experience in synthetic methods development and/or target oriented synthesis.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare technical reports, present findings, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
• Experience in reaction optimization.

The School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology (CCEB) is a new interdisciplinary school at NTU, inaugurated in August 2022. Our school hosts world-class education and research programs in organic and inorganic chemistry, physical chemistry, chemical engineering, and bioengineering. We aim to nurture future-ready researchers with the ability to tackle new challenges in chemicals manufacturing, healthcare, energy, food, and other important sectors.

This position is responsible for aiding the development of new synthetic methods in the lab of Asst Prof Phillip Grant, which aim to improve the efficiency of organic synthesis.

Key Responsibilities:

• Synthetic research in organic synthesis of small molecule drug-like compounds

• Characterization of organic compounds

• Development of new methods to synthesise drug-like compounds

• Maintenance of key instruments

• Contribution to lab duties; e.g., purchase of chemicals

Job Requirements:
