Job summary

The Earth Observatory of Singapore (EOS) at NTU Singapore invites applications for a Research Fellow. You will join a multi-institutional project to develop hydrodynamic and sediment transport models, conduct field measurements, and interpret data to improve coastal decision making in Singapore.

You will work with a diverse team, publish findings, and contribute to reports and presentations, with opportunities for growth in an international research setting.

Qualifications

• PhD in Oceanography, Sediment Dynamics, Ocean Engineering, or closely related geosciences.
• Strong background in hydrodynamic and sediment transport modelling.
• Experience with field measurements in coastal-marine environments is desirable.
• Proficiency in Python or MATLAB; ML methods advantageous.
• Strong publication record and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Develop hydrodynamic and sediment transport models for fluvial-marine systems.
• Conduct and analyse field measurements of flow conditions, seabed, and sedimentology in Singapore’s coastal environments.
• Quantify relationships between hydrodynamic intensity and sediment erosion/flux/deposition patterns.
• Support development of physics-based models to predict sediment source-to-sink pathways.
• Integrate modelling outputs with datasets (satellite images, etc.).
• Prepare technical reports and project deliverables.
• Disseminate results with PI supervision.
