Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Conduct and support experimental work in neutrophil biology, inflammation, infection, immune regulation, and tissue repair using cellular, molecular, imaging, flow cytometric, and animal approaches as appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate experimental records, organize and analyze data, troubleshoot protocols, and contribute to interpretation and communication of results.
  • Assist with literature review, figure preparation, manuscripts, scientific presentations, reports, and internal research documentation.
  • Coordinate laboratory safety and compliance activities, including SOPs, risk assessments, training records, incident documentation, and other institutional requirements.
  • Support procurement and administrative workflows, including sourcing quotations, purchase requests and orders, goods receipt, invoice follow-up, vendor liaison, and record keeping.
  • Manage inventories of reagents, samples, consumables, and shared equipment, including maintenance and service records and timely replenishment of supplies.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation for laboratory inspections and audits, coordinate corrective actions, and ensure follow-up items are completed.
  • Liaise with departmental administrators, research support offices, animal facilities, core facilities, and vendors to support operations and research activities.
  • Support onboarding and access arrangements for new lab members and contribute to an organized, collaborative environment.
  • Assist with other research, safety, administrative, procurement, compliance, and operational duties assigned by the PI.

Job Description

The National University of Singapore invites applications for Research Associate for "The effectiveness of neutrophil-guided immune reprogramming in acute infection and immune resolution" in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. The Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine is committed to advancing medicine through immunological research and promoting collaborative, cutting-edge research, technology, and data sharing to stimulate discoveries about the central role of the immune system in human health and harness its power to diagnose and treat disease. Purpose of the post

The Research Associate (RA) will work closely with the Principal Investigator and research team to support both the scientific and operational development of the laboratory. The RA will conduct research while helping to ensure that the laboratory operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with institutional requirements.

Main Duties And Responsibilities

The Research Associate will contribute to projects focused on neutrophil biology, acute inflammation, immune resolution, and host defense. We are seeking a scientifically curious, driven, hands-on, and highly organized individual who is motivated to generate rigorous research findings and contribute to high-quality publications while taking ownership of the day-to-day systems that support a productive laboratory.

The Research Associate Will Be Expected To
  • Conduct and support experimental work in neutrophil biology, inflammation, infection, immune regulation, and tissue repair using cellular, molecular, imaging, flow cytometric, and animal approaches, as appropriate;
  • Maintain accurate experimental records, organize and analyze data, troubleshoot protocols, and contribute to the interpretation and communication of research findings;
  • Assist with literature review, figure preparation, manuscripts, scientific presentations, reports, and internal research documentation;
  • Coordinate laboratory safety and compliance activities, including standard operating procedures, risk assessments, training records, incident documentation, and other institutional requirements;
  • Support procurement and administrative workflows, including sourcing quotations, purchase requests and orders, goods receipt, invoice follow-up, vendor liaison, and record keeping;
  • Manage inventories of reagents, samples, consumables, and shared equipment, including maintenance and service records and timely replenishment of laboratory supplies;
  • Prepare and maintain documentation for laboratory inspections and audits, coordinate corrective actions, and ensure that follow-up items are completed;
  • Liaise with departmental administrators, research support offices, animal facilities, core facilities, and vendors to support laboratory operations and research activities;
  • Support the onboarding and access arrangements of new laboratory members and contribute to an organized, collaborative, and efficient research environment;
  • Assist with other research, safety, administrative, procurement, compliance, and operational duties assigned by the Principal Investigator.
Qualifications

The applicant should:

  • Hold a Master\'s degree in life sciences, biomedical sciences, immunology, cell biology, microbiology, or a related discipline;
  • Have hands-on laboratory research experience; experience in cell culture, molecular biology, flow cytometry, microscopy, immunological assays, and/or animal work would be advantageous;
  • Have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the willingness to balance experimental research with laboratory safety, administration, procurement, and audit responsibilities;
  • Be proactive, reliable, and able to work independently and collaboratively, manage competing priorities, and follow tasks through to completion;
  • Have good written and oral communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with Prism, FlowJo, EndNote, Adobe Illustrator, BioRender, or related software would be advantageous;
  • Prior experience in laboratory operations, procurement, safety, compliance, or research administration would be advantageous, although training will be provided.
