Job summary

The National Institute of Education invites suitable applications for the position of Research Associate on a 12-month contract at the Office for Research. Project: Optimising Learning in Human-AI Collaboration (HAC) for Intelligence Augmentation.

Work spans learning sciences, AI in education, and learning analytics to optimise student engagement and cognition. Requirements include a Master’s degree in a related field, prompt engineering experience, and proficiency with research methods and data

Qualifications

Master's degree in educational technology, learning sciences, computer science, or closely related field.
Knowledge and experience in prompt engineering for teaching and learning.
Experience integrating AI-driven features into learning management systems.
Competence in research methods, including survey design and educational experiments.
Experience operating fNIRS, EEG, eye-tracking, and designing data-collection protocols.

Responsibilities

Fine-tune AI prompts for teaching and learning.
Deploy AI features on digital learning platforms and adapt for various teaching contexts.
Design surveys to assess HAC literacy, perceptions, and cognitive engagement.
Collect and analyze fNIRS, EEG, and eye-tracking data.
Write research reports and papers.
Assist PI and collaborate across disciplines.
