Job summary

National Institute of Education invites applications for a 12-month Research Associate position at the Office for Research. The role focuses on Optimising Learning in Human-AI Collaboration for intelligence augmentation, applying learning sciences, AI in education, and learning analytics to study student learning and engagement.

The successful candidate will fine-tune AI prompts, deploy AI features on learning platforms, design surveys, and analyse multi-modal data (fNIRS, EEG, eye-tracking)

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in educational technology, learning sciences, computer science, or closely related field.
• Knowledge and experience in prompt engineering with pedagogy to tailor AI prompts for teaching and learning.
• Experience integrating and configuring AI-driven features in learning management systems.
• Competent in research methods including survey design and educational experiments.
• Experience operating fNIRS, EEG, and eye-tracking and designing data-collection protocols.
• Proficiency in relevant analysis tools and programming.
• Experience writing research reports and academic papers.
• Meticulous, self-motivated and able to work across disciplines.
• Strong written and spoken English communication.
• Ability to collaborate in a research team and multi-task.

Responsibilities

• Fine-tune AI prompts for teaching and learning.
• Deploy AI functions on digital learning platforms and adapt them for different teaching/learning purposes.
• Design survey questionnaires to study HAC literacy and student perceptions.
• Collect and analyse fNIRS, EEG, and eye-tracking data.
• Write research reports and papers.
• Other duties as assigned by the Principal Investigator.
