Job summary

The National Institute of Education, part of Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, invites applications for a Research Fellow on a 25-month contract in the Humanities & Social Studies Education Department.

The project, FastTrackAI: Fast-Tracking AI for Scientific Discovery, aims to develop performance-portable software and optimized AI for science workloads, with PyTorch libraries and dataflow- and communication-optimized routines for Singapore's research ecosystem.

Qualifications

• PhD in Hydrology, Computing, Earth science or a related field.
• Proficiency in remote sensing, GIS, and statistics.
• Proficiency in Python, R, and Google Earth Engine.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant working experience in an academic environment.
• Experience in academic report writing or paper publication.
• Experience with geography fieldwork.
• Able to work independently with strong follow-through skills.
• A team player in a multi-cultural environment.
• Strong communication and organization skills.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct independent and collaborative research work.
• Manage research project.
• Liaise and work with research stakeholders and vendors.
• Prepare literature reviews to synthesize prior studies.
• Propose, design, and implement appropriate research methodologies.
• Remote sensing and field data collection, storage and archival.
• General quantitative data analysis.
• Writing of reports, publications, and presentation materials.
• Planning and executing tasks to achieve key deliverables.
• Any other administrative duties as assigned by Principal Investigators.
