The National University of Singapore invites applications for a Research Engineer to develop hybrid process models that combine first-principles simulation with machine learning for the design and scale-up of emerging membrane technologies for decarbonization.
You will collaborate with Prof. Yoel René Cortés-Peña and other researchers to model, validate experimentally, and optimize technology, using data to estimate uncertain performance and inform experiments.
The National University of Singapore is the national research university of Singapore. Founded in 1905 as the Straits Settlements and the Federated Malay States Government Medical School, NUS is the oldest higher education institution in Singapore
The Research Engineer will develop hybrid process models that combine first-principles simulation and machine learning to support the design and scale-up of emerging membrane technologies for decarbonization.
The Research Engineer will work under the guidance of Prof. Yoel René Cortés-Peña and collaborate with other researchers at the National University of Singapore on modelling, experimental validation, and technology optimization.
The role will involve building process models that leverage machine learning to estimate uncertain performance parameters from experimental data. The engineer will conduct techno-economic and environmental analyses to identify promising designs, guide experimental efforts, and iteratively improve model predictions as new data become available.
The candidate must have B.S. in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a closely related field. The candidate must also have research experience on membrane technologies and a strong interest in machine learning and design of experiments.
