Job summary

National University of Singapore invites applications for a Research Assistant/Associate to lead and contribute to an advanced textile manufacturing lab. The role focuses on intelligent textiles, soft systems, and wearables research in a multidisciplinary setting at the Kent Ridge Campus.

The candidate will work on digital knitting, weaving, embroidery, sewing, and related textile techniques, train team members, and help publish results with the research group.

Qualifications

• University degree or equivalent industry experience in textiles or textile-related organizations.
• Experience with digital machine knitting, weaving, embroidery, sewing, or related textile crafts.
• Knowledge of flat-bed, circular, or whole-garment knitting technology.
• Proficiency in programming for knitting and weaving machines.

Responsibilities

• Utilize and advance digital knitting, weaving, embroidery, sewing, and other textile methodologies.
• Maintain textile laboratory equipment and research supplies through routine maintenance, cleaning, and procurements.
• Train and assist research team members regarding textile equipment, garment making, and soft-hardware integration.
• Fabricate technical textile materials and samples, and document processes for review.
• Conduct research in intelligent textiles, fabric actuation, and sensing technologies.
• Communicate results through presentations, reports, figures, and articles for publication in collaboration with the research team.
• Contribute to laboratory operations, supervision, and the teaching of students across all levels in textile/fashion design and engineering.
