Job summary

Duke-NUS Medical School is seeking a Research Assistant to support the CVMD programme and Adaptive Metabolism Laboratory. The role focuses on mouse colony management, molecular biology, and general lab operations within a collaborative research environment.

Ideal candidates hold a Life Science degree and have experience in cell culture, mice work, and metabolic studies. Location: Outram Campus; join a dynamic interdisciplinary team at Duke-NUS.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Life Science, Biomedical Sciences, or related field.
• Experience with molecular biology, cell culture, and rodent handling.
• Strong written and oral communication, and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Perform tasks and support all aspects of the research project.
• Support general mouse colony maintenance and assist with molecular biology and cell culture experiments.
• Conduct accurate monitoring, documenting and reporting of experimental results and/or research findings.
• Contribute to project management, presentations and publications of research work.
• Assist with general upkeep of laboratory needs, maintain safety protocols, provide technical support and establish work procedures to ongoing research projects.
• Perform other related duties incidental to the work described therein.

The Signature Research Programme in Cardiovascular and Metabolic Disorders ("CVMD") houses state-of-the-art technologies for basic studies and translation research on metabolic adaptations in cells, rodent models, and human patients, and undertakes translational and clinical research in cardiovascular and metabolic disorders.

The Adaptive Metabolism Laboratory, headed by Dr Anand Sharma, is seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant with experience in mouse colony management, animal handling, and general laboratory operations. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing research programme and contribute to a collaborative and dynamic research environment at Duke-NUS.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform tasks and support all aspects of the research project.
• Support general mouse colony maintenance and assist with molecular biology and cell culture experiments.

Job Requirements

• Experience and interest in molecular biology, cell culture, rodent handling and metabolic studies.
• Possess strong interpersonal communications skills with excellent written, oral communication and computer skills.
• A strong team player who is open-minded, energetic, highly motivated and can work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team and diverse workforce.
