Job summary

ClickHouse, Inc. is hiring for a senior performance engineer to help build and operate the ClickHouse Cloud Platform.

You will measure and optimize performance across large-scale distributed systems, drive chaos experiments, and work with core developers, cloud, and security teams to ensure elastic, high-performance operations. The role emphasizes Go/C/C++/Java development, concurrency, Kubernetes, and cloud IaaS expertise across AWS, GCP or Azure.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of relevant software development industry experience building and operating scalable, fault-tolerant distributed systems.
• Proficient in Go, C/C++, Java or similar languages.
• Experience with concurrency, multithreading and distributed architectures.
• Experience developing cloud infrastructure services, preferably with Kubernetes.
• Experience leading and delivering large technical projects with multiple engineers.
• Expertise with AWS, GCP or Azure and their IaaS platforms.
• Strong communication and collaboration across teams.
• Strong problem solving and production debugging skills.
• Passion for efficiency, availability, scalability and data governance.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and own initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Benchmark system performance, capacity sizing and optimization.
• Troubleshoot and triage application and server errors and logs.
• Recommend configuration tuning for bottlenecks.
• Collaborate with ClickHouse core development, cloud and security teams to improve performance.
• Plan and drive Chaos initiatives across engineering teams.
• Develop and deploy tools to run chaos experiments and measure impact.
• Understand large-scale distributed systems and software resilience.
