Job summary

Neo Research is seeking a Lead Research Scientist to shape our research agenda and own high‑impact AI safety projects. You will define questions, design rigorous experiments, and build a scalable research program with a growing team.

You will mentor researchers, collaborate with engineers and external partners, and represent Neo's work to the wider frontier-model community. This role offers substantial ownership and a path to influence safety standards internationally.

Qualifications

• Track record of original research in AI safety, model evaluations, or related field.
• Ability to turn broad problems into concrete research programmes and published results.
• Excellent technical writing and communication with researchers, engineers, and external partners.

Responsibilities

• Set and evolve Neo's research agenda and determine high-impact projects.
• Lead major research projects from problem selection to publication.
• Develop rigorous methods for studying frontier-model behaviours and incentives.
• Mentor researchers, review designs and outcomes to uphold high evidence standards.
• Collaborate with research engineers to implement robust experimental systems.
• Build and maintain collaborations with AI safety institutes, frontier labs, academics, and model developers.
• Help recruit exceptional researchers and grow Neo's research culture.
