Job summary

Sembcorp invites a Reliability Engineer to join our Jurong Island operations in Singapore. You will support asset reliability, optimization of maintenance strategies, and data-driven condition monitoring across power generation and water assets.

The role requires 4–8 years in reliability or plant engineering, degree in Electrical/Electronic engineering or instrumentation, and familiarity with RCA, FMEA, and SIF.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or Instrumentation and Control System Engineering (or equivalent).
• 4–8 years of experience in reliability, maintenance, or plant engineering (power/utilities/process).
• Familiarity with reliability methodologies (RCA, FMEA, RCM, SIF).
• Strong analytical, data interpretation, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with digital tools for condition monitoring is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Support asset reliability and maintenance optimization across power generation assets and water assets.
• Perform reliability analysis (RCA, FMEA, RCm) to identify failures and root causes.
• Identify critical electrical and instrumentation assets and potential SPOF.
• Analyze equipment performance, failure history, and plant data to detect degradation trends.
• Develop and optimize preventive, predictive, and reliability-centered maintenance strategies.
• Track and report reliability KPIs (MTBF, MTTR, availability, OEE) and drive continuous improvement.
• Contribute to reliability and performance improvement projects to enhance plant availability and reduce outages.
• Support implementation and enhancement of digital reliability tools and data-driven monitoring systems.
• Assist in developing and maintaining reliability-related procedures, SOPs, and workflows.
• Provide reliability engineering support for ongoing operations, maintenance activities, and new plant modifications.
• Assess reliability risks for GT & ST electrical systems, Generators, Transformers, HV/LV switch gears, MCCs, UPS, PLC/DCS/SCADA, etc.
• Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, and Digital teams to implement reliability initiatives.

• Support asset reliability and maintenance optimization across power generation assets (GT, HRSG, BOP, BESS) and water assets (wastewater treatment, effluent recovery, NEWater)
• Perform reliability analysis (data analysis, RCA, FMEA) to identify failure modes, root causes, and improvement opportunities
• Identify critical electrical and instrumentation assets and potential Single Point of Failure (SPOF)
• Analyze equipment performance, failure history, and plant data (including predictive monitoring tools) to detect degradation trends and prevent failures
• Support development and optimization of maintenance strategies, including preventive, predictive, and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM)
• Track and report reliability KPIs (e.g., MTBF, MTTR, availability, OEE) and support continuous improvement initiatives
• Contribute to reliability and performance improvement projects to enhance plant availability, reduce forced outages, and optimize maintenance strategy, cost and warehouse spare parts management.
• Support implementation and enhancement of digital reliability tools and data-driven monitoring systems for predictive asset maintenance (PAM)
• Assist in developing and maintaining reliability-related procedures, SOPs, and workflows
• Provide reliability engineering support for ongoing operations, maintenance activities, and new plant/system modifications
• Assess reliability risks associated with GT & ST electrical systems, Generators, Transformers, HV/LV switch gears, MCCs, UPS system, PLC/DCS/SCADA Interfaces, and Flow measurements, Analyzers and Critical Electronic control systems
• Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, and Digital teams to implement reliability initiatives

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

• Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Instrumentation and Control System Engineering, or equivalent
• 4–8 years of experience in reliability, maintenance, or plant engineering (power/utilities/process industry preferred)
• Basic knowledge of thermal plant systems (GT, HRSG, BOP; BESS is an advantage)
• Familiarity with reliability methodologies (RCA, FMEA, RCM, SIF) and maintenance strategies
• Ability to analyze plant and equipment data for performance and reliability improvement
• Exposure to digital tools, condition monitoring, or predictive maintenance systems includes Oil analysis, Dissolve gas analysis, Thermography, and all electrical system assessment and analysis is an added advantages.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills
• Good communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional teams
• Proactive, self-driven, and adaptable in a plant environment
• Experience in SAP S4HANA, CMMS, Reliability database and data analytics tools is an added advantage.
