Job summary

Blue Water Shipping is seeking a Regional Business Controller to support offices across Asia, Oceania, MEA. You will provide strategic financial insights, drive performance, and bridge operations and finance in a dynamic, multinational environment.

Based in Singapore, Shanghai, Brisbane, or Esbjerg, you will lead financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, KPI development, and cross‑functional collaboration with regional managers and senior leadership to optimise processes and enable informed

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or equivalent.
• More than five years of experience in business controlling, FP&A, management accounting or a comparable finance position.
• Solid hands-on experience in budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, KPI management, performance analysis and business partnering.
• Strong communication skills, commercial awareness and fluency in English.

Responsibilities

• Oversee regional financial reporting across offices, ensuring accuracy, completeness and regulatory compliance.
• Develop and enhance financial reporting frameworks, dashboards and KPIs to provide actionable insights into business performance and trends.
• Collaborate with finance teams to consolidate and analyse financial data from multiple sources, identifying opportunities for improvement and efficiency.
• Evaluate existing finance and operational processes within the regions’ offices, identifying inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement.
• Lead process optimization initiatives to streamline workflows, automate repetitive tasks and enhance productivity.

Join us at Blue Water Shipping as a Regional Business Controller where you will play a critical role in supporting the offices within Asia, Oceania, Middle East and Africa (MEA) regions. You will provide strategic financial insights, optimize processes, managing performance and foster strong relations with key stakeholders across the business. Working closely with operational teams, senior management and other stakeholders, you will play an integral role in bridging the gap between operations and finance, streamlining processes and supporting the achievement of our business objectives in a collaborative and dynamic environment. This role can be based in either Singapore, Shanghai, Brisbane, or Esbjerg.

Your Role

Financial Reporting Excellence:

• Oversee financial reporting processes within the regions offices, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
• Develop and enhance financial reporting frameworks, dashboards, and KPIs to provide actionable insights into business performance and trends.
• Collaborate with finance teams to consolidate and analyse financial data from multiple sources, identifying opportunities for improvement and efficiency.

Process Optimisation:

• Evaluate existing finance and operational processes within the regions’ offices, identifying inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement.
• Lead process optimization initiatives to streamline workflows, automate repetitive tasks, and enhance productivity.
• Implement best practices and standardized procedures to drive consistency and efficiency in financial operations.

Performance Management:

• Monitor KPIs for the region’s offices performance and track progress
• Conduct regular performance reviews and variance analysis, identifying root causes of performance gaps and recommending corrective actions.
• Collaborate with country & office managers to develop action plans to improve performance, optimise resource allocation, and drive business growth.

Stakeholder Relations and Communication:

• Build and maintain strong relationships with the region’s country & office managers, operational teams, and other stakeholders, serving as a trusted advisor and financial expert.
• Communicate financial concepts, analysis, and insights in a clear and concise manner to non-financial stakeholders, facilitating informed decision-making.
• Act as a liaison between operations and finance departments, bridging the gap and promoting collaboration to achieve common goals.

Operations-Finance Integration

• Facilitate cross-functional collaboration between operations and finance departments, ensuring alignment of goals, objectives, and priorities.
• Provide financial expertise and support to operational teams, helping to translate financial data into actionable insights and strategies.
• Advocate for process improvements and technology enhancements to streamline interactions be-tween operations and finance, improving efficiency and effectiveness.

Your Background

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or equivalent.
• More than five years of experience in business controlling, FP&A, management accounting or a comparable finance position.
• Solid hands-on experience in budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, KPI management, performance analysis and business partnering.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to convert financial data into clear recommendations and actions.
• Experience supporting operational and senior stakeholders within an international or multi-country business, dealing with both country/ operation management and global finance/ Headquarters..
• Strong communication skills, commercial awareness and fluency in English.
